View Full Version : Theory: Quality hosts also the cheapest

Hi all,

Like many of you I've been dealing with web hosts
since 1995. From this experience I would like to
propose a theory for your feedback.

My theory is: The highest quality host you can
find is also the cheapest.

The reason of course is that a web host with any
kind of ongoing problems takes up tons of your
time. If you place any reasonable value on your
time, that becomes the largest expense associated
with a web host who isn't doing their job.

After 6 years with shared hosting accounts I'm now
shopping for my own dedicated server for the first
time. If my theory is correct then I should be
shopping for the very best host, irregardless of
price.

My needs are:

1) I'm not a Unix guy so I need a Cobalt or Plesk
type control panel.

2) I need a middle power server, something like a
Cobalt 4 with 256 Megs Ram.

3) I need 24/7 phone support that connects me
directly to technicians who know what they are
doing.

4) I need a month to month contract arrangement, as
I've dealt with too many web hosts to commit to
6-12 months in advance with anyone.

5) Above all I need a PROFESSIONAL company run by
real adults.

Price is not a consideration.

Who should I be looking at? Does such
a thing actually exist in this market?

Many thanks!

Bob

Aloha,
well if you want real 24/7 support do not go with rackshack.net
at all
as far as a RaQ is considered I would have to ask you do you have over a 100 people using a box and are they using cgi if yes ya might want to consider a regular computer with a control panel
if ya have a 100 people and they do not really use any cgi etc... then you should be safe with a raq
I have a raq at racksahck but am going to be using it for bandwith I am putting together a large VR ssite that will deal with Hawaii so bandwith with them will be cheap and shoudl do me OK as there will opnly be a few sites on it
going to try to sell off a few accoutns to help pay for it.

you may want to post this in the Web Hosting Advertising / Offers Forum area with your needs and give any info you can
such as
how much bandwith you use now
how many sites you have and plan to have
how much space you are going to need etc...

best of luck
