I am not one to post positive comments about my host in public but I thought this could be an exception. I have been with Hostworkz since last August when I left Interland. I've always been happy with the service I've received since the day I joined Hostworkz. Greg, Peter and the crew and great guys. :agree:

Anyway, I ran into what I thought was a small problem today. I stuffed up and accidentally screwed my database. I use this database on a daily basis, so having it not working was going to hurt me $$$ wise. I sent a ticket to the Hostworkz support team and a rep by the name of Toby (I still owe you a beer Toby :D) responded to my ticket within 20 minutes requesting some more info from me. 30 minutes after submitting the additional info, my database was working again!!!

I could of kissed Toby I was soooo happy!! So I just wanted to post a public thank you to Hostworkz and Toby in particular for getting me out of a very, very sticky situation as I was resigned to losing my database and all the data in it.

Having learnt a very important lesson, I'm now going keep regular backups of my database!

Graham

Graham,

That's awesome. Good to know that other people do this kind of thing. I hope you wrote the company directly about your experience.

If your host provides a backup service, then this is exactly why it is a good thing. If one of our customers fills out a helpdesk request similar to this, then we can re-image their site to the last daily backup that we have, and it takes approx 20 minutes.

i have to agree with you graham. i have been with hostworkz since late may last year, almost a year now, and they have been great. i've never really needed much help from their support, but when i have, their assistance has been excellent.

Woah, that's really great stuff. It's cool to see that companies actually really cares about us. :)

So I'm sure you would recommend HostWorkz to anyone ? :)

P.S. I'm asking that question 'cause I'm actually browsing and lurking around trying to find a good host, and their 9.95$ plan seems very good. Do you have this plan? Also, are they offering the same support even if you're buying their cheapest plans? And they aren't a reseller, right ? They host their own servers? Thanks a lot!

Yes, I sure do recommend them to anyone. So far they have looked after me really well. I actually have their $9.95 plan and I believe they do have their own servers.

I think that webhosting on a global scale has gone down the tubs SO far that stuff like this happens - we're actually posting happy comments when web hosts do what they're SUPPOSED to do in the first place.

There's so many faulty web hosts out there, that we EXPECT a horrible service, and when it turns out that they offer what they say they offer, it's time to celebrate. It seems like we pretty much expect beforehand that when we sign up, they'll ignore our emails, have problems with billing, have massive downtime, etc.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking this post or thread, it's just sad that things are so bad on a general scale, that we post msgs like this when a host basically does what it's supposed to do. :(

Whilst there is nothing wrong with being a reseller, HostWorkz is not a reseller and we operate our own servers. Also, I can assure you the standard of our tech support does not vary on the type of plan you have - everyone is treated equally. :)

You make some valid points. I agree with you in that with the number of bad hosts that are out there, a number of hosting customers are surprised when they actually do receive good service from a host.

It is indeed good to see positive, first-hand reviews, but ...

Agreed. The problem is compounded when a certain moderator here deletes negative reviews from the "search" function. This is no favor to the general public seeking a fair and balanced evaluation of hosting companies.
