Can host unlimited domain name - based sites?
True or not?
True or not?
![]() | View Full Version : Cobalt RaQ 4 ... Jay Speedman 06-26-2001, 03:57 AM Can host unlimited domain name - based sites? True or not? CJCS 06-26-2001, 04:22 AM the Cobalt RaQ's have a limit of 200-250 domains per Server. This is because cobalt thinks that the system has enough to do with 200-250 sites. There's somewhere a non-cobalt patch with which you can disable this limit. But i don't know where to get it. :erm: If you patch your system don't forget that you posibly void your waranty. Greetings Olly iVersit 06-26-2001, 12:54 PM You probably do not want to put more than 200 sites on a RaQ, these limits are in place for a reason. A RaQ should only have around 80 sites per machine. brandonk 06-26-2001, 07:53 PM Originally posted by Orpheus1539 A RaQ should only have around 80 sites per machine. I've got a RaQ3 with about 170 sites and another with 150 and both are chugging along just fine. They've got 196 MB Ram, and the sites are pretty low key. Their is no way to know how many domains you should put on a server until of course, you know how resource intensive these sites are. huck 06-27-2001, 08:57 AM Raq's limits are hardcoded at 200 or 250 sites per machine. I assume this is something set up in the admin control panel as there is nothing inherent in apache that imposes this limit. As for the real number of accounts, this of course depends upon your usage -- databases, php, cgi-bin, email etc. all require resouces. A couple of high-traffic database-driven sites can quickly bring a Raq to a halt. But you could have 500 mom and pop home pages and the machine would never blink. It all depends upon site traffic, services, etc. RAM can help but eventually you will either max out the processor (especially with database functions) or hit the hard drive limit (e.g. heavy file transfers). I'm very interested but I wasn't able to find it myself. :( anixs 06-30-2001, 04:49 PM There is no limit for name-based sites. I had over 300 domains running on a RaQ3 once (yes, it crashed hourly). :D |
