Sounds good until you read this: (from your TOS)
"To maintain the integrity of our service the following limitations apply:

Sites with Banners, graphics or cgi scripts running from their domain used on other domains

Sites with picture galleries (This is any site where 50% of the files transferred is graphics)

Sites offering download files or archives (This is any site where 50% or more of there monthly traffic is from file downloads)

Sites using more than 30% of system resources

Sites running multimedia files (QuickTime, Real Audio, Real Video, MP3, etc.)

For those that do not qualify for the unlimited service, traffic will go unmonitored until you reach 17GB per month. Thereafter, normal data transfer cost of $20.00/1GB/month will be billed to your account.

We will be the sole arbiter as to what constitutes a violation of this provision"

Why would anyone need that kind of bandwidth for simple page hits if the above types of files are excluded?

That section of the TOS is referring to the -BurstWeb- account that supplies "Unlimited" Disk Space and Bandwidth.

Those items you listed from the TOS do not apply to any other plans other than the -BurstWeb- plan.

If you order the -Developer Plus- package your site CAN have banners, graphics or cgi scripts running from your domain used on other domains, picture galleries, multimedia files, and archive files available for download.

Hi Jessica,

Your offer sounds very good. I have a question for you though, are you a reseller for *****? I see that your nameservers have an IP address that belongs to CI. I am looking for two accounts but I will not use CI. I am trying to get away from them now.

Regards,
Chas

We are not resellers. We own all of our servers. We have them colocated at the creative innovations data center.

A lot of web hosting companies colocate their servers at one of the major data centers to save money paying for (1)technicians for server maintenance, (2)security, (3)cooling systems, (4)power backups, (5)fire protection, and (6)costly high speed connections to the internet. The money saved by colocating the servers to a data center is past on to the customer in low monthly prices for their services. We own all 112 of our servers and pay low monthly fees to have each connected to the internet on digital lines that cost creative innovations $5,000 /month each.

A permanent traffic upgrade can help save you money in bandwidth overages. The cost is $4/GB.

No Orpheus1539, we do not hate our clients. We are very fond of our clients that abide by some common sense rules. If our clients didn't enjoy the services we offer we wouldn't be here.

For -Developer- (10GB @ $12.95/month):

Once a client reaches or goes over his or her limit, we always suggest that they upgrade to a Developer Plus account. (20GB @ $16.95/month)

By doing this the client is then able to receive 10 more GB of data transfer with only a $4.00/month increase in monthly cost.

For -Developer Plus- (20GB @$16.95/month):

It is VERY RARE for a legitimate client to ever go above the 20 GB limit of the Developer Plus account. We are lenient if a client slightly goes over in their allowed data transfer. Example: If you go 1.2 GB over one month and server transfer logs show that your are projected to not even get close to going over the next month we will waive that small overage.

Data transfer and its projection for the entire month for all domains are calculated daily at 3:00 am and can be view through the control panel. It is very easy to check where your stand regarding bandwidth. Once a client is projected to go above his/her data transfer limit, we will send out an email notifying the client. If the client chooses to continue with the hosting we provide the client with two options. 1) Pay the one time fee of $20/GB once they go over. 2) Order a permanent traffic upgrade at $4/GB/month once they go over. (3 month commitment) We are also always willing to make special arrangements with clients such as moving their domain to a server that uses very little bandwidth and giving a discount on the standard $4/month pre-paid overage charge.

Now for "clients" that go 15 GBs over in 1 day that are supplying copyrighted material that are in violation of US & International copyright laws such as "Windows 2000-Free Download!" or "Christina Aguilera Online CD - Download Now!" or other material that is grossly in violation of our TOS such as "Adult Gallery - Over 20,000 Pics & Videos!" ......etc are simply CANCELLED and charged $20/GB, no negotiating.

Not true! I recently was webmaster of a site that offered downloads of user created courses for a commercial golf simulation. Each of these is between 5-20 mg. 20 GB/mo would be aslow month.
Was I "Illegimate"?

Not true!

Between 0%-1.6% (about 0-4 of 255) of our customers on ever server goes above 20 GB of data transfer. I was considering this to be rare.

Your site would be OK. You would just be one of the 0-1.6% that goes over.

I'll give a couple examples again of what I consider not be legitimate...

I do believe that most all of the people in the examples above knew that kind of material is not allowed on our servers before they ever placed the order.

Hey, I run a popular music discussion site, and I want to offer an archive of real audio files for my members. Your special looks pretty inviting, but I have a few questions before signing up...

1) I need the site domain to remain on my current host, because we have a huge message board running on a dedicated server. Would it be possible for me to have the audio portion of my site hosted on your company under a subdomain like http://audio.mysite.com?

2) How does your billing cycle work? If I sign up June 28th, do I have to pay for 2-3 days now and then again for July, or does the 12.95 cover from June 28th to July 28th?

3) How up to date is your bandwidth tracking system? I'd like to know how much bandwidth I use per day, before I'm approaching the limit.

Yes. You or your dedicated server host will need to setup the subdomain to point on over to our server.

thanks for the quick response.

i've narrowed my choices down to you and http://www.tera-byte.com/hosting.html

you have the space advantage and they have the bandwidth advantage. Is there any way I could negotiate a lot less space for more bandwidth?

Hello. The company was started almost 3 years ago at OLM. To gain more control and save money, we started the move over to CIH after about a year at OLM.
