I can tell you that the reseller plan of donhost isn't a good deal. They will close the high usage domains , then ask you to change to dedicated server.

Do you mean they force people to move to a dedicated server??
But their price is really hard to beat :(

It's hard to beat the price of generic coffee too, but there's no way I'm putting that into my body when I can spend three times as much for a quality brew that tastes as good as it smells. :)

Bite the bullet and pay for quality - you'll live longer, die happier and have a lot more friends. Hell, it might even make you popular with the girls.

I am just starting out as a reseller and I think donhost is a grat value and great option. I took a look a Alabanza and they are talking about $1000 setup and $600 monthly and they give you 50GB GB of traffic. Why pay that when I can pay aprox. $52 a month for the same.???

What do you think?

They had closed some of the domains which are highly used, although my bandwidth usage only at 10-20GB /month (quato: 50GB). Then they will suggest you to use thier dedicated server...... I have no choice and time....

while i do not know any US host who offers unlimited disk space with unlimited domains but you can check out tophosting guys.. had a few accounts with them in past and found their support really fast. sometimes they answer the mails in 4 -5 hours even . they offer unlimited domain hosting in a limted space package that you buy from them...but again..they offer unlimited bandwidth..which is not a very relaible sign.. do offer excellent features on their hosting plans. Had tried them and found them gud if you are looking for a low cost reseller Windows hosting you can have a look .

Now, I got nothing against these guys. The system looks goodand all, but when I reviewed the reseller account, seven words stuck out at me as red flags. Can you guess which seven?

Host Unlimited Domains
Unlimited Hosting Accounts
Unlimited POP3 Mailboxes
Unlimited Autoresponders
Unlimited Email Addresses
Unlimited Mailing Lists
Unlimited UNIX Web Space

Now look hard, this is like Where's Waldo, though I have attempted to make it easier for you to spot. I'm sorry but I have common sense and my common sense tells me that 50 gigs of unlimited hosting (another hint for the above Where's Waldo), might just have limitations.

The price for addl. transfer is high to say the least. Anywhoooo, like you said, why pay $1000 setup and $600 monthly and they give you 50GB GB of traffic and limited resources when you could just pay approx. $52 and get unlimited (final hint) everything? Good luck.

:( Ok ok thanks guys, I get it!!!

What do you recomend me then, I have been searching for a host with a reseller program since 2 month and all of them have bad things and bad reviews.

most of the hosts give you this plan: reseller account $35 and resold account starts from $6 - 25mb, 5 emails, 1GB transfer. I cant resell this plan for more than $10.. I will be lucky if I even sell it... where is the profit then???

Thanks in advance.:)

I know what you mean, and felt the same way when I was looking for a reseller program. First, I don't think there's a point to trying to be the lowest priced host out there, so I wouldn't bother trying to be (not that you are). If you can add any service (whether it be faster support, or webdesign, scripting, etc.) to your web hosting offer, or target a market that isn't looking for $3/yr. hosting, you should still be fine. Point being, I'd pay more for your service if you did something above and beyond just offer me space.

I just wouldn't dwell (as long as I did) on the price issue too much, as you'll eventually come to the realization that you simply cannot and will not be able to compete with hosts who own/lease servers, who sometimes find it difficult to compete with host who own NOCs.

If you are looking to one day move up to a dedicated server (some people like just being resellers), then I'd weigh that issue strongly and explore hosts which can move accounts from a shared, reseller enviroment to your own dedicated enviroment as best as possible.

Just some things to think about...

For what reason? excessive CPU usage? Were those sites running buzy boards like WHT?
