spam cop has sent email to several of my domins telling me I am spamming and to stop.
but guess what I am not so now what?
I did a who is on the site that I found in the spam but of course the guy who answered the phone was like "LOOK< I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT, I AM NOT BILL WILLIAMS AND STOP CALLING ME!!!!" so either he is getting a lot of calls of he is laughing and telling his buddy "HE HE, theres another one LOL"

So could someone tell me what to do or direct me to where to go to find out?

I am looking at suespammers.org and samspade.org but there isn't direct info on what to do if someone is using your name in a spam or if there is info about that, I haven't found it yet (lots of good info but a lot)

So in closing please direct me to a thread or site concerning this.
PS this is the only link found in the offending mail:

You should be able to find the IP that the spam originated from in the headers of the email.

If spamcop is mailing you, I'm guessing the spam went through your SMTP server. You wouldn't happen to have open relaying? (big NO-NO).

Ya, if you do a whois on the instant morgage thing, its just an affiliate trying to spam and make money. If it is a dedicated server you have, and have open relay like posted before, I suggest you check out qmail with smth-auth. Its really great.

Not sure about the open relay thing,
we are an alabanza host so i dont think they would allow such a thing

I have forwarded everything i have to them but all i get is the infamous auto responder.

We are in the process of looking for ways to move our clients out of alabanza(:uhh:)

thanx for the info

Did you check and confermed it came from your servers?

You need to dissect the message headers. Try to get a few copies of the spam. Make sure the emails actually came from your machine. One type of hack/harrassment is to spend spam email with somebody elses return address. Between legitamate responses and people complaining about spam, your mail box quickly fills. Sort of a bizzare DoS attack.

You also need to contact your ISP and send them a copy of the email. You should also reply to those who have complained about the spam and tell them that there was unauthorized access and that you, your business or associates did not send the spam.

The headers of the email should give you some info about where the message originated. If you have access to the server logs, you should download the mail and system logs for archival purposes.

Can you email me complete copy of the spam, including headers? Sent it to tubenut@hotmail.com

Thanks,
