View Full Version : [Raq] What's the best way to control CPU use?

One or two virtual sites on our Cobalt Raq4 seem to be hammering the CPU into submission every morning - probably via the mail system.

We plan to put them on separate IP and control kbps via the native Raq software.

Is this the right way to go? What's a good kbps figure to start with? (There are about 50 mail users on each virtual site).

I dont know weather limiting the thourgh put is a great way of restricting processor usage . Posable (dont know if this works on the RaQ) use UML to creat VMs and restrict there processor usage.
Just a thought.

Since it seems to be mail access by two clients that is the problem, (rather than cgi's etc.) I'm hoping a bandwidth pinch will pull it back.

You can use Unified Modeling Language on the Raq without voiding the warranties? I didn't know that, although I know about it on IIS. Do you have any useful links on the subject? I couldn't find any.
