Just a quick question to those who have recently started accepting credit cards......
Have you seen an increase in sales? if so what sort of percentage are we talking? enough to make the fees worthwhile?

I kno from experience... that most people would like to pay by creditcard, but others like to pay by online check or paypal. Its good to offer all of them to attract a large audience.

i'm looking forward to increased sales simply for the matter of fact people won't have to manually submit an invoice!

I use 2checkout currently and i am in the process of moving to my own merchant account.

e-Commerce wise, I think that credit card acceptance of one flavor or another (true merchant account or P2P like Paypal, etc.) is a must if you expect any US business.

There have been various studies in the POS (face-to-face) world that support the fact that while the quantity of sale transactions may not increase, the average dollar amount of the transactions do increase. This is especially true in hospitality when tips are involved -- credit card customers tend to tip bigger than cash customers (this is some of the same logic that casinos use when using "chips" instead of cash: it's not money, it's plastic).

I have to imagine that some of these trends work in favor of e-commerce purchases also...:cartman:

i always think of money in paypal as "toy money" for some reason, im much more likeley to spend it than spending on a credit card.. but thats just me (i think)

Hard to say what percentage increase in new sales...possibly 10%, but renewal invoices are paid promptly when the URL leads to a payment page obviously geared to pay directly in to a merchant account. A good ordering system like ModernBill tied in with a merchant account facility at the end of it certainly seems to add some more "weight" (for want of a better word) to the service.

Not to mention the huge reduction in overheads. That alone makes it well worth it. :)
