Just got the e-mail today.... It will be interesting to see what happens in the future

Don't these idiots realize that a big part of their customers (=hosts) will not like this?

Not only that - ALL registrants of domains at dotster received an email inviting them to signup for a hosting package and for a limited period no setup fee. One of our clients registered a domain through their reseller program AND received the email.

So they're emailing my customers and asking them to ditch us and choose a hosting package with them. Me? I'll be ditching their reseller program pronto.

Maybe everybody should write a letter saying that by mailing the customers about hosting packages is not something we are happy with. List how many clients domains you have listed with them ???
they might figure OH well we loose a few hundred people no biggy we can risk that for what we gain.
Although if those few hundred people have at least say 50 - 100 domains each average and sign up at least a few hundred a month between us all
thenn they might at least consider it something to screen
if they are going to loose maybe up to 5000 domains ??? maybe they will react
I am going to write a letter to them about this
