Hello everyone, finally decided to register on this forums because I can only get so much information by reading other threads.

I am now on the look out for a good web host. Used to be on vservers.com then they merged with like, 3 companies and everything was screwed and the service just went downhill.

Now I am looking for a simple hosting solution something like AddAction.net THE PLAN (which I am considering) but I have the following requirements.

- Need to be able to allow virtual host multiple domains (about 5 is enough) BUT the individual domain must have it's own CPanel and own FTP access.

- Looking at about 500 - 1000Meg of space

- PHP scripts pre-installed support, preferably with PHProject and a Discussion board software

- Friendly Tech Support that will be able to help me technically if need be because I am a Business Development guy, not a tech. I don't expect them to answer within a few minutes or hours but within limits...

- Low cost, I saw 1Gig plans at really low prices (single digits) but of course, I don't mind paying a little more for good service, uptime and quality. FreeBSD servers with good speed would be a good thing too.

Any suggestions?

Welcome ncknight :wavey:

AddAction seem to have some good value plans and I could recommend a few at that price as well. Not sure if they have ded CPanel for each domain though. Going up a bit Dathorn and HTTPme can meet your requirements I think.

He wants suggestions not offers ... :stickout:

You're not going to find HTTPme pricing in single digits; however, if you want QUALITY, pay for them.

At first glance all this looks acheivable with many hosts, whether they use Ensim, cPanel, or HSphere control panels. Disccussion board software is availbale through a host with a cPanel version that works properly. The issue that I see is having PHProject installed. Internet search engine show that MCHost.com sibername.com dothostpro.com rcthost.com offer PHProject (as detailed in their pricing grid showing features). I suspect that many other host offer it but they do not indicate that they do. Start with alwayswebhosting.com httpme.com myacen.com hostingmatters.com futurequest.com. Email them and see if they have it.

It look like you may have to start with webhosts offering cPanel and you may have a tough tme finding it on a FreeBSD platform. You may want to check with fluidhosting.com (FreeBSD & HSphere control panel) and see if they have the PHProject module installed.

Yes, intellic is right, the 'Fantistico (http://www.cpanelthemes.com/fantastico.php)' add-on system for Cpanel (which we use at AWH) includes phpProjekt and many others. (The base cpanel install that mosts hosts with cpanel have offers bulletin board and chat room scripts, counter, guestbook, and other simple scripts.)

EDIT: Changed: "which we offer at AWH" to "which we use at AWH"

Thanks for all your comments, I just went over to Alwaysweb due to his reply but (to me) the pricing is a little on the high side considering some offers of 3gigs at $12 but again it's good to have someone who is always concerned about his customers...

To intellec, thanks for the heads up, I will be sifting through the offers later and will shortlist some to determine which would have better speed response to visitors from South East Asia (Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia).

Thanks to you all!

You're not supposed to receive any offers from people when posting in this forum.

My recommendation is to forward them all to a moderator. If they can't follow the simple rules this forum lays down, more than likely they're nothing but a fly by night host who's here one day, and gone the next.

Ino, please re-read my post two above yours. I clarified regarding cpanel's scripts and Fantastico. I know because we use both systems. We did not advertise/solicit business, which would be a violation of forum rules. I have edited my post to try to make this more clear. Cheers.

Oh, I wasn't accusing you of advertising at all. But rather where ncknight had said;

I figured that they had meant other host's had sent him PM's offering to host their website.

I don't get it, what's wrong with giving me the names of the companies I can look at? Isn't all those server comparisions with the company name splashed as the TOPIC even worse then? I just need some recommendations that's all.

Ok I have looked at DaThorn and the specs are more or less what I am talking about. I am more than willing to HALVE the 2gig data space and 30gb transfer in return for technical support, Cpanel and pre-install scripts and help for the same price of $12.95. Is there such a hosting company?

Yes there are - you say you are a "Business Development guy" so I'm sure you have better things to think about so I'd just put this in the requests forum and see what you get. You've got nothing to lose.
