View Full Version : JaguarPC ripped me off so looking for a new host...
ag3ntorang3 06-24-2001, 07:56 AM I had recently signed up with JaguarPC, just before their move from VI to VDI. The uptime sucked to say the least, my accounts perl scripts (CGI) would not run half the time, I emailed them several times about a MX change they said they would do upon sign up that took them 2 1/2 months to complete after they called me a liar about even requesting it. Most all of this was solved by me re-emailing them all the email correspondence we had discussing the issues. Then the worst thing in this nightmare happened while I was deployed for a short 45 days, yes I am in the military, they deleted my account. Upon my return I ofcourse emailed them requesting reinstatement and reason. This is when they told me that they had never received payment. I find this very funny as I have my visa bills and they have been recieved payment on the 11th of april, the month I signed up, the and the 11th of may the second month of service, and no attempt of charge for the month of june according to my bank. They told me that they were refused payment for may, which would have been the initial april 11th payment since your required to pay for service in advance, as normal. The only good thing is they do have quick and speedy replies to your questions even though they do not want to see the facts or work with payment problems.
I definately do not recommend hosting your site with JaguarPC do to the simple fact that they do not understand they are a customer service provider and do not provide a service worth the headaches that come from their customer service department.
I have also included as much of my billing history in an attached zip file as possible for proof of payment. Maybe I'll get lucky and JaguarPC will listen as I post this information here.
Thanks,
Jim Link

P.S. no sense in looking at my site as they deleted my content and I have yet to find a host I would call decent. If you have any suggestions please let me know.

I've been with JaguarPc for well over a year now and have exactly the opposite to say. As far as i'm concerned their customer service is great. They've never given me a headache and not once have I had any billing issues with them.
ag3ntorang3 06-24-2001, 12:10 PM I have since posting this received a letter from their billing department telling me they changed their billing procedures and program in the last 60 days which I was unaware of. I am now told that if I log in to the trouble ticket page and reconfirm my billing information all will be good with in 24 hours.

Sir, I have seen the emails sent to you regarding this matter. We do not bill in advance (but we will begin doing so soon with the implimentation of a new billing system) and so you were not charged when you signed up. You opened your account with us on the 26th of March, since that is past the normal billing date of the 25th. After your first full month of service (april) we tried to bill your card as we normally would at the end of the month and it was declined. We attempted to contact you and never received any response. We event let the site slide to the end of May where once again the card was declined. We then suspended your site (It is not deleted--- its suspended). Bottom line is you have had two months of hosting without a payment being made yet, its common practice to remove clients after that but we merely suspended your site to this point. All we have been asking is that you signup with our ticket system to enter a new online ticket with the card details. The ticket system is secured with SSL and card details are removed after verified.
All of your emails to date simply complain about the situation, and I understand it as well since you were out of the country. However we can not be expected to let the site continue without payment. If you would simply update your information with us so we could collect for the two months of hosting you have used we can re-activate your site.
Also, if you have problems with anything that needs immediate attention a public forum is not the way to get it. We are under no obligation to respond here and find it inappropriate to have to provide support to anyone in a public forum that is not associated with our site. If you need further assistance with this or anything you can ICQ me #205546 , email me admin@jaguarpc.net, or use the ticket system. I will not be making anymore posts in this thread regarding this issue. Thank you, Greg
One last note: You titled this thread "JaguarPC ripped me off so looking for a new host..." , may I ask how so ? Who else gives you two months of hosting without a payment?

Please forward that email to me, I do not show that you were sent any response as a result of your post here until just now.
Sesran 06-24-2001, 02:42 PM Must be a misunderstanding, I have not heard anything bad about JagPC. I would suggest you try and figure it out with them, I have talked with Jag and he is very resonable person too.
freehost 06-24-2001, 02:49 PM I have also heard some good things about Jag:)

He didn't say it was in result of this post. He just said since this post. Easy to assume either though.
I have never heard a bad thing about Jaguar PC, this is probably a misunderstanding.
ag3ntorang3 06-24-2001, 04:31 PM This is the email I am talking about, it was recieved upon me emailing them the second copy of my billing statement from my visa card:
Thank you sir, It would appear then that our merchant equipment made an
error in generating the declined response. Would you please verify with your
bank/card if the may charge did clear too or if it was also genuinely
declined. Thank you
and this is my reply to that:
I have completely gone through my visa records and you are correct I was never billed in April, however in May I was billed on the 11th of the month. It is taking too long to alleviate this problem and I am now asking you delete my account as I have decided to change hosts all together. At this time I expect to receive a bill for my April service which should total $12.95 the amount that I owe you. I again am attaching a copy of my May Visa bill so that you can again see that you did infact charge me for your service.
After re reading your Acceptable Users Policy I am now taking it upon myself to cancel my account with you, JaguarPC, so that I can finally get my site up and running again.
Thank you for your time, effort and explanations.

P.S. if you do not wish to send me a bill just email the address so that I can send final payment in the form of a check.
And Get Hosted is correct I do not even think they had seen this posting as of the time of emailing... But with this matter taking over 10 days to rectify I was getting desperate in resolving it.

ag3ntorang3 06-24-2001, 05:06 PM I too had heard good things and this is why I chose them. I have sent them a copy of my billing statement as you have seen in the above correspondance. I admit that I do indeed owe them 12.95 which is an error on both of our parts, but I never received any letters from them email or otherwise from them regarding that untill they shut my site down. I am now also in direct correspondance with Greg, who I am assuming is the owner (at this time it is still one sided though), and have sent him the information he asked for above along with all other email histories I have on the matter from with in the last week. I am hoping to have this problem completely rectified with in 24 hours as it has already taken them over a week to finally see it was partially (50-50) their error.

ag3ntorang3 06-24-2001, 05:11 PM This is the reply I just recieved via email:
[quote]We are sorry to see you go and will close the account as requested. If you
need the site content please let us know and we will tar the site and send
you the tar file . We apologize for any confusion during this ordeal and
wish you better luck in the future. The fee paid on the 11th of May was the
one for Aprils hosting. This is shown from the payment you did make on the
11th of May (since we do not bill in advance). The declined statement we
received from our merchant on the 11th of May was the start of this
confusion. The hosting fee that is still due is for the month of May which
also gave us a decline notice. In light of the confusion and given the fact
you were not in the country we are waiving the fee the you still owe us and
wish you a better hosting experience next time. Take care[\quote]
I think both JaguarPC and I have both learned from this and would now like to thank JaguarPC for their curtiousness and offer to send me my files which I did request.
