Hi,

I am running a PPC affiliate site in partnership with FindWhat.com. So far, I am using MyDomain.com to point my (and some of friends) about 100 domains to a single website. The fee I am paying for is around $9.95 per month. During the past two years the service was really good, with occassional outages. The daily traffic I am getting is around 6000-7000 unique visitors, and since it is a plain PPC site, this converts to about 300 MB of daily data.

Now I think I have reached a point where I must get a dedicated box so that I can put some of my other developed sites on that.

I need an opinion about the minimum hardware and software (OS and Control Panel) requirement keeping in view the traffic I get. Once I have an idea, I will put it in the Request Forum.

How much do you know about linux? This will also be a key. If you're pretty experienced with it, I'd go with Rackshack on one of their cheaper servers, since it doesn't sound like you need a whole lot of power. If you don't know too much about linux, you might want a semi-managed or if you don't really know anything consider a fully managed solution.

I dont know a lot, but I can manage a lot with a good control panel. I am familiar with SSH and can do some basic stuff.

The only thing that worries me, is my geographical location i.e. Pakistan.

I am looking at ThePlanet.com, but Cpanel prices are really high there.

Rackshack or dedicatednow.com has the best CPanel prices probably.

Yeah, they are very good prices.

Will Celeron makes any difference for a business like mine. The site needs to do some PHP scripting and MySQL stuff.

How much MySQL usage will there be? A lot of MySQL usage would mean you should get maybe a P4 server. cPanel prices are very cheap at Rackshack and that sounds the best place for you. If you have a low amount of MySQL usage and Preprocessed dynamic content, you should look to go with a Celeron 1.3 or 1.7 :)

Any good hosting copany should not increase your dedicated server costs by more than $40.00 to $50.00 for the addition of Cpanel or Plesk on a dedicated server.

However, I can not see you needing a dedicated server with the amount of traffic you are describing... I would just look for a "Virtual Server" or an account that allows you a specific amount of resources.

I would suggest you look around before just jumoing into Rachshack... I have heard good things from people about rackshack but there are tons of good deals out there for the type of equipment that you are looking for.

Lots of hosting companies that sell or rent dedicated servers have off-lease or older servers that you could get cheap for what you want.
