Please post what company you recommend for this. thank you Akash 04-24-2003, 11:29 PM I'd recommend getting your own merchant account :) More flexibility than a 3rd party prcoessor like 2checkout or paysystems. Check wiht your bank, or do a search here for mercahnt accounts :) amc-james 04-25-2003, 01:06 AM I use wellsfargo.com's merchant services. They have been great so far. I'd recommend. Their plans are pretty reasonable as well. DWHS 04-25-2003, 01:15 AM wells fargo and yourpay together. happy for three months now, exogen 04-25-2003, 01:59 AM PayPal for now, but we're switching. I just hate to have to require my customers to sign up with PayPal before they can buy. Rack Planet 04-25-2003, 07:40 AM since you are asking you are probably a start-up Things to remember are, what we recommend and what you can afford are most likely 2 different things. I would love a *REAL* merchant account, but it is just not within my budget now. 2Checkout with PayPal as a bonus for people that like it is what we use now, and we have not had any problems with either. lobaloba9 04-25-2003, 09:03 AM bad thing about getting your own merchant account - if your chargeback rate goes above 1%, you will never ever be able to apply for a merchant account in your country i.e. blacklisted. good thing about paypal - their verification process ensures the cardholder is not fraud (choose to accept only verified members or those with confirmed addesses). very easy to detect fraud with paypal. bad things about paypal - you can never win a chargeback - customer has to sign up for an account first maestrosdelw 04-25-2003, 09:29 AM I recomend 2checkout. It's easy to use and cheap if you're starting. Then you can get a merchant account and use something like ibill.com or authorize.net hostpath.com 04-25-2003, 09:34 AM Rack Planet: Why is a real merchant account out of your budget? And as for the question of this thread... ECHO all the way, so long as you're a US-based business. You can't beat them. Cheapest rates, and they don't charge you anything unless you actually run transactions. Plus, what other merchant provider gives you free chargebacks? usmctpdog 04-25-2003, 01:49 PM Doing my DD finding ECHO is fine until you get to the fine print and *That requires a 3 year contract.. *NO thanks* >Not for a newbie for the obvious reasons! Plus, what other merchant provider gives you free chargebacks? When I was researching for my account as a startup from what I found their was a large difference in prices. I was not fortunate enough to come across ECHO... after looking them over I feel my site will be implementing this soon :D thanks for the referral footprints 01-13-2006, 03:27 PM Doing my DD finding ECHO is fine until you get to the fine print and *That requires a 3 year contract.. *NO thanks* >Not for a newbie for the obvious reasons! No monthly fee... 3 years, 30 years? does it matter? abnormis 01-13-2006, 03:44 PM we've been with e-onlinedata for a few years. no problems so far, but i've heard a few horror stories. AcidNet 01-13-2006, 03:47 PM You all sound unpleased with your free merchant account. You should try nochex if your in the uk. Free to sign up Clients dont have to sign up Can customize the page You can refund in one click They are liable for fraud They charge 20p + 2.3% on trasacrtions - extremely good rate. They are good.......... axe9 01-13-2006, 05:17 PM After the next year, I'm going to do another restructure and branding for my company, and well be operating a full online merchant status. PAypal for those who want it, but we will have our own merchant account and everything. This being after I turn 18, because atm, I'm not able to register a merchant account. This will also let me take a CC swiper into the field for my tech support business, and people can just pay me via credit card if they don't wanna risk a check, and don't have $150 in cash laying around. Also, for design business and for local business hosting, a lot of people would like to be able to pay for their services in person, once a month. Patrick 01-13-2006, 05:23 PM Authorize.net if you can afford it / are able to obtain an account, or simply go with 2Checkout.com for a much cheaper solution... and there's always PayPal. I personally like 2Checkout.com and have yet to have any problems with them. ThinkSupport 01-13-2006, 07:15 PM Authorize.net is a good and a recommended payment gateway. 2checkout is an option for all those, where other payment gateways do not work, especially for people living outside US and UK. The payment gateway is good, but their support is horrible :( bobcares 01-14-2006, 06:05 PM I would highly recommend Worldpay. http://worldpay.com They are great and very reliable. Amar scottc 01-14-2006, 08:37 PM good thing about paypal - their verification process ensures the cardholder is not fraud (choose to accept only verified members or those with confirmed addesses). very easy to detect fraud with paypal. Our experience over 4 years of accepting both PayPal and direct cc transactions through our merchant account has been the opposite. 95% of our fraud comes from PayPal orders. It used to be only about half, but the sharp increase in phishing schemes last year made it much worse. The last time I checked PayPal offers no fraud protection for services (only for products), so their verification stuff does you no good at all if someone breaks into an account. They just yank the money right out of your account as soon as the account owner realizes what happened. I recommend doing your own fraud screening on every order, no matter what the payment method. After doing that for a few months you will be able to spot fraud pretty fast in most cases. I used to report fraud to PayPal before they or the account owner were even aware of it, but because of PayPal's lack of effort in pursuing it I usually don't bother anymore. Scott JetNet 01-14-2006, 11:14 PM 2CheckOut is good but they rape you on charges. Masud 01-26-2006, 08:50 PM 2CO or worldpay! dhcart 01-27-2006, 12:00 PM We recommend Paypal and Moneybookers. If you look for 100% fraud and chargeback protection when your choice must be Moneybookers. sct4a 01-27-2006, 12:38 PM I opened an account with cdgcommerce and authorize.net and they are great. I would recommend checking them out. Decent rates and very good customer service. They have been very prompt and on the ball with all my requirements. Streamer 01-27-2006, 01:19 PM I see some people saying get both Paypal & 2co, Does 2co offer payment without creating an account? Thanks Ariel74 01-27-2006, 02:24 PM I don't understand why anyone would use 2Checkout... their rates per transaction are about 3 times as high as a real merchant account. keliix06 01-27-2006, 04:05 PM I don't understand why anyone would use 2Checkout... their rates per transaction are about 3 times as high as a real merchant account. That's why we just switched from the to cdgcommerce w/authorize. Couldn't be happier. Saving almost 3 figures a month just in CC processing charges. Like most other hosts we also offer PayPal for those who prefer it. nman14 01-27-2006, 05:11 PM [quote=usmctpdog]Doing my DD finding ECHO is fine until you get to the fine print and *That requires a 3 year contract.. *NO thanks* >Not for a newbie for the obvious reasons!
