Thanx DHWWnet 06-23-2001, 04:09 AM do you need your own private nameserver? if you have a server then you can use 2 ips for DNS , if you are on a shared virtual account, try asking your host. redman2001 06-23-2001, 04:13 AM I have a server and I have 2 ips to use for DNS, but I don't know how register my nameserver ! Get-Hosted.com 06-23-2001, 04:15 AM You register the name servers with your domain registrar. Hopefully your on an OpenSRS system or similar so you won't have to wait at all to have them activated. DHWWnet 06-23-2001, 04:16 AM First, setup your dns. Second, go to your domain registrar and add/register said nameservers. 3rd, wait for a few days. ksstudio 06-23-2001, 04:22 AM If you own a domain name from Opensrs Reseller you can login to http://manage.opensrs.net to create name server base on your domain. It is free. Of course you need to setup the name server at your server. AbbasJaffarali 06-23-2001, 06:46 AM Approximately, how many days does it take for the Name Server to Register everywhere? I registered mine with Dotster for two days now and it still doesn't show up. Also, is it possible to track the progress of name server registration? Thanks Abbas ksstudio 06-23-2001, 06:59 AM Originally posted by AbbasJaffarali Approximately, how many days does it take for the Name Server to Register everywhere? Thanks Abbas For OpenSRS it takes less than 24 hours for me. It depends on geographical area. We use OpenSRS like them much better.. Cael 06-24-2001, 03:37 AM First off, tell me what's your registrar? It's very important. Different registrar has different kind of ways to deal with this. Second, if you need help with DNS, I can help you set it up. As a free volunteer of course. :) DHWWnet 06-24-2001, 05:17 AM Originally posted by redman2001 2) I have Plesk control Panel on my server. I don't know to setup my DNS. Can you help me, please? 1.setup a subdomain e.g: ns1.domain.com and assign a unique ip, then go to that subdomain/link within plesk, edit the dns, remove all the other stuff and leave just 3 entries. ns1.domain.com NS ns1.domain.com ns1.domain.com A 12.345.678 12.345.678 PTR ns1.domain.com save changes... *replace 12.345...w/ your IP's 2.go to your registrar and add your nameserver. 3.wait for a few days... Vortech 06-24-2001, 11:39 AM Once you have Plesk Setup DNS is really easy after you have it pointing to your IP.. Plesk really does it for you.. redman2001 06-24-2001, 02:24 PM 1) I want register a domain and nameserver with OpenSRS. 2) Can I setup SOA (zone - refresh) ? Where ? Thanx Domenico 06-25-2001, 05:18 AM You can also register your nameservers here for free and it doesn't matter where you come from or registered your domain. This is also for international domains! http://www.networksolutions.com/cgi-bin/makechanges/itts/host DHWWnet 06-25-2001, 01:28 PM Originally posted by redman2001 2) Can I setup SOA (zone - refresh) ? They also tend to assign your nameservers over to third parties thus prohibiting you, the domain owner, from making any changes. They also do not reply to any support emails. |
