Hi..

i wanted to get some domains with onlinenic but wanted to use my own dns servers.
on their site they say :
--------------------------------
How can I Register New DNS? Is there any charge?

The DNS registration is free for resellers, while there are some restrictions on the domain name used as name server.
1) The current registrar of the domain name is OnlineNIC
2) The domain name should have 5-year extension from its Current Date.
Example: Registration Date: 2001.1.1
Expiration Date: 2003.1.1
Current Date: 2002.3.20
Then you have to renew domain for 4 years more. That is the expiration date should be extended to 2007.1.1.
--------------------------------

err.. so does this mean that i need to prepay every domain for 5 years to be able to use my own dns ?

i got in touch with their sales ppl. here what they write

me : hi.. one more question... can i use my own dns servers ?

onlinenic: sure:)

me: ok.. i was just a bit insecure since u said on ur page that i only can do that if i prepay for 5 years... so this is something else ? (sorry my english is not that good, so i have some problems understanding what is written on ur site )

onlinenic: no..the five years' renewal limitation hasn't been cancelled, you can register you dns now and use it for your domains:)

me: errmm.. i am really sorry, but can i or not use my own dns-server with domains i register from you.
(WITHOUT registering them for 5 years)

onlinenic: yes, you would like to register dns, the domain should be registered with onlinenic.

hmmm as also written before i am not that good with english, but somehow ii still dont got an answer to my question....maybe its allready answered but i am too stupid to understand :(

anny help would be welcome. (maybe somebody who is allready a client with onlinenic)

Sounds like they are not that interested in having you as a client. They are not really listening to your questions... I can understand your question very well, and i'm not native english either.

I can give your some explanation from my current experience with Onlinenic:)

1,you can register your own DNS on onlinenic free of charge if you are a reseller of it.
2,your dns's name should be a domain whose current registrar is onlinenic.that mean your should register a domain with onlinenic or transfer a domain to onlinenic, and use it as your DNS's name.
3,the condition your get from their FAQ: The domain name should have 5-year extension from its Current Date. Now is cancelled.

Dear tassilo,

I am sorry if we haven't offered you the clear answer. Now I just want to confirm you that you can register your own dns with onlinenic and you don't need to renew 5 years for the domain used as name server.

We did have that policy in the past but now it has been cancelled. Now dns registration is totally free for you with onlinenic, you may feel free to register any of your onlinenic domain as dns in your onlinenic reseller control panel.

Thanks very much for your business interest with us and you kind information, we will take the policy from our FAQ soon and will sincerely look forward to our further cooperation in the near future.
