View Full Version : Am I being cheap?
mbarron 06-23-2001, 02:26 AM I currently pay $7.95USD/month for 25MB, cgi-bin,telnet, complier etc. etc. at http://www.westhost.com
I only do about 3-5GB/month, with minimal use of cgi.
Should I goto one of these webhosts that charge $5USD/month or less.
I know its only a few dollars, but it adds up fast. Exspecially in crappy australian dollars.
Martie 06-23-2001, 02:42 AM Well you dont say if you are dis-satisfied with your current host, so why change if its only a matter of afew bucks? It may not be worth a move, provided you are happy where you are?
koolguru 06-23-2001, 02:50 AM I Agree With Martie As I Am Fully Sure That In Most Cases The Quality Of Service Will Also Change With The Change In Prices.

sweethorizons 06-23-2001, 03:24 AM Your paying to much for the amount of space you get and everything. This is only my personal option. For 50 dollars a year you can get 50 megs and 6 gigs of traffic. If your intersted I'll help you find a much better host for about 50-60 dollars a year.

There is no host that is going to lose their shirt on the bandwidth *and* provide support etc. - how are they supposed to pay the staff to keep the machines going, etc. etc. etc.?

What are you talking about? You have the coolest dollars in the world. It is like plastic and see-through in spots. :D :D
Stay with your current host. No troubles, no move. It is like that time you go to your favorite restaurant. You say "should I get the same ol' reliable dish or try something new." Then when you get the new dish to try, you say "Should've stayed with the reliable dish"

I dont think there is any host out there that offers 1Gb pf bandwidth for only $0.70. Simply not because bandwidth costs more than that :) Unless the host is playing the resources game.

No.. it's usual, everyone got to take care of their own pocket, just be certain that the "cheaper host" you're going for does provide reasonable/reliable support/services..

I Also Agree With You But Check Out :-

Look At The Yearly Fees Of The Tin Package.
I Have Not Heard Alot About This Company But I Wonder How They Manage To Give 5GB Bandwidth For $50 Per Year. Maybe They Are Thinking That Most People Would Not Use The Full 5 GB, the Same Old Resources Game Huh.

tubedogg 06-23-2001, 04:31 AM There's something wrong with them...They offer a $70 discount if you pay yearly?
Jedito 06-23-2001, 09:30 AM In the tin and silver plan they offer 50% discount if you pay yearly. :eek2: :eek3: :eek4:
In the titanium the discount is 30% and in the gold and platinium 20%.
MCHost-Marc 06-23-2001, 11:31 AM Either they're hosted on a cheap Raq which i'm guessing ...but they're playing the resources game anyways :cartman:
Jedito 06-23-2001, 11:37 AM what you get is what you pay for? :)
mbarron 06-24-2001, 04:43 AM I think I will stay with my current host, they have been good to me for the last 2 years. And they are always ready to help me out with installing things.
Thanks for all the advice!
