We are asking for historical and current commentary on dedicated/colo providers. While all comments are welcome, we would appreciate comments (if any) on the following in particular. Ideally, we would like to hear commentary from people who maintained service with providers for longer than three months.

Pegasus http://www.pwebtech.com
NYI.net http://www.nyi.net
Any provider of service through MAE Dulles http://www.maedulles.net/
Any direct experience with NAC http://www.nac.net

We are not interested in any Verio-based providers, and do not need commentary on Alabanza.

Questions for which we would like comments:
How were the services AFTER the sale was made? Was their responsiveness to you in both support and general inquiry issues consistent both before and after you took service with them?

Do you judge the pricing to be fair? Have you noted any hidden costs that were not explained to you up front or that took you by surprise? What sort of example fees have you paid or have you seen from these providers?

About how long did it take to get set up with the provider you chose? If you have multiple boxes set up with your provider, did you find setup times to be consistent or did they vary? If they varied, what reason(s) accounted for the variation?

Have you found technical support to be responsive and knowledgeable? Do they explain, when asked, what they did to resolve an issue and what the cause could have been so that future questions on the same issue can be avoided? What is the average turnaround time for responses to technical requests and resolution of technical requests?

For dedicated server providers, do they offer an ability to configure or customize a server? What sort of monitoring do they do on your behalf? Do they have an SLA? For colo providers, what sort of monitoring do they offer? Do they offer reboot or other services with or without an additional fee? Do they have a partnership with a hardware provider or one (or more) they recommend?

Note that I will NOT respond to PMs on this issue. If you have something to say, say it in this thread.

Hi Annette,

As you may know, we've been (and are still) with BurstNET, and now have boxes with Pegasus as well. While we haven't been with Pegasus for longer than 3 months (it's been a couple of weeks), you may find the following information useful.

Service and support have been pretty much consistent both before and after sales. Turnaround time is usually 24 hours or less, and they do explain what they did to resolve an issue when asked. We've mostly been dealing directly with Jason, who's been instrumental in getting us up and running, and also with people like Dave via the ticket system.

Pricing, while not the lowest, is extremely fair for what they offer (20 diverse connections and 24/7 phone support). There haven't been any hidden costs above what they specifically quote you.

Each machine has taken about 3-4 days to get setup. This has been consistent. They do have a relationship with a hardware provider in the area, allowing them the ability to customize the hardware to suit your exact needs, as well as to provide 24/7 parts replacement.

Pegasus does not provide monitoring on your behalf by default, but for an extra fee they can setup a mechanism that monitors numerous ports for you and does automatic reboots when necessary. They do guarantee a reboot within 15 minutes when you call anytime day or night.

Hope this helps. If you require further information or clarification, feel free to email me directly at mark@aletia.net.
