I am a total newbie for linux installation. Although I have installed linux on my P III custom machine a few times, but I can not under stand most of the things stated there.

I want to make a server for development purpose, where I can check my sites and scripts before I upload them to some hosting server, so I want to make a development server with identical specifications what a normal hosting server has.

For instance I have Red Hat 8.0 and there are so many packages in it, so many desktop in it and so many other packages. So can any one inform me how to install RH8.0 and configure it to test my scripts and sites. Or if yopu people can inform me of some good place or forum to learn linux.

thanks in advance.

greets.

back in the day, i think the common response was, "RTFM." ;)

http://www.redhat.com/apps/support/resources/

http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/

http://www.redhat.com/docs/errata/

http://www.redhat.com/docs/wp/

http://www.redhat.com/docs/books/

my guess is if you are serious about learning, you can learn what you want to learn from these resources, and any resourses to which they link.

bon apetit
