Hi,
i would buy a new dedicated linux box but i am confused which cpu take, i can buy:
Dual Pentium 1,4ghz
Pentium 4 2,4 ghz (at the same price of dual)
Pentium 4 3,06 Ghz (30$ more monthly and 50$ more on the setup)
what do u prefer or is better for a linux box on red hat 7.3 ?

I would take the P4 3.06Ghz. We had a Dual P3 1.4Ghz Tualatin server and it was horrible, not near the performance one would expect out of a dual processor system. We upgraded to a Dual Xeon 3.06Ghz but meanwhile the hardware ordering lady ordered the wrong hardware and we had a single 3.06Ghz P4 in there for about 3 days and it ran better than the Dual P3s. Of course HyperThreading needs to be enabled for it to be useful.

I would take the duel. Although, if you had a rig with enough ram/HD space to actually load it up to utalize the processor... get the 3ghz.

What control panel? What kind of content do you expect to be serving mostly?

I don't think you need that much power like p4 3Ghz , except in case you have special needs, but for a normal server the dual solution or p4 2,4 will be absolutely ok. Just add the more memory you can. With 1GB of memory you'll be ok!
