My DC let me use their DNS server, but I think that I must run my own to be able to have more control over users' accounts and mail and... is that correct?

I have ns1.domain.net and ns2.domain.net registered (as name servers) with my registrar, and assigned these 2 name server to 2 IPs on my box. But I don't see where in WHM to setup this 2 name servers.

Will someone help?

Go to Server Setup on the left and click on edit Setup

Primary Nameserver:
Enter the hostname of the primary nameserver (normally, the name of this server) you wish to use when creating new domains or subdomains.

Examples: ns.myhost.com, ns1.myhost.com, dns1.mydomain.com

I entered the ns1.lehongphong.net as the primary name server.
When I click Assign IP Address, it says:
"Sorry, the nameserver ns1.lehongphong.net already has the ip 64.x.x.x assigned to it. "
(the ip 64.x.x.x is my IP, setup as virtual device on my box, and was given by my DC)

When I click Add an A entry for this server, it says:
"Cannot determine ip for ns1.lehongphong.net "

???

What's wrong, my registra (godaddy) did not register my name serve correctly? (it's been months and I can see ns1.lehonpghong.net listed as name servers on godaddy.com)

oh it looks like you need to register the nameservers. You need to login into your godaddy account select your domain and domain details and hit go. Then in the bottom left you shoud see "Domain Host Information (click here to add) " then click there and enter your name servers with the correct ips

I use godaddy also.. I think it is great :)

I had 2 records (with IP and everything) there at the Domain Host information for months now...
When I do a whois on ns1.lehongphong.net it shows the right IP. But I just cna't ping and it does not work in WHM..

I will delete them and see what happens.

when you go to server setup - Manage Assigned Nameserver Ips does the info in your registars match the name server setup in whm?

No.. :( When I add nameserver1 as the primary, it automatically assigned the primary IP to it (which is not the IP I registered with my registrar)..

go to your registar and change your nameserver1 ip to your primary ip and secondary ip to a second ip allocated to you.

is there anyway I can change the name server added to my box to a specific IP?
And is it common to have the IP of the name server the same as the IP where I serve virtual hosts?

Thanks.
