Im trying to install PHP BB its telling me to chmod the config file "chmod a+w config.php" well that doesnt work if you dont have command line access to the server and it doesnt say what number to set it to
:confused: I need to make the file writeable by the web server accroding to the directions

Writable by the web server?

chmod 777 config.php

should do it

I would try making it 644 and see if that still works...it'd be a little more secure.

OT: phpBB requires CHMODing? Yuck...

Are Crap no kidding, and about as clear as mud I saw this BB on downtown hosts site if Id known what a pain it was I wouldnt have done it :P

I'm playing around with phpBB myself. Installation took a whole 3 minutes, customization is taking a whole few hours. I have to hack up the source to make it look like I want to. For a free program I can't complain, but it doesn't touch vBulletin. :)
