I was wondering if anyone had more information about QuickBooks PRO's integrated credit card processor? I know that you need a merchant account with Intuit - but is it possible to use another billing company too? if not, anyone has the URL for their merchant account information? I didn't find it anywhere

Hi Kiwi,
I'm still vacillating about using your reseller program, veoweb, and Jumpline is courting me pretty heavily. (I just wanted to apologize for not getting back to you yet).
ANYWAY... Quickbooks Pro 2002 has PayPal as an option built right in. You still have to use Chase Bank or Wells Fargo for your merchant account, but the really absurd thing is that Wells Fargo bank doesn't support Quickbooks online bill pay and other options yet(!!), just Quicken.
The pricing is very competitive on the merchant accounts.

Using QuickBooks Online Billing, you send invoices via email to your customers and receive payment, through the Internet, directly into your PayPal account. You can then move funds from your PayPal account into your bank account.
(However, the seller can't initiate a PayPal payment directly from QuickBooks.)

If anyone has a QuickBooks Pro 2001 account data (minus any personal data of course!), I would be happy to set up a fictious webhost and let you pros see the invoicing output and Internet interface of QB 2002.
(I don't have a webhost account set up for use with Quickbooks and I am loathe to pay an accountant to cross the T's and dot the I's for something I will not be using to generate profit. But I will be happy to exercise it for anyone in anyway you would like.)
Let me know what features you want exercised and I will send you feedback.
Regards,

Out of curiosity, where did you find info on QB2002?
We looked at QB2001 when it first came out, but decided not to use it, as it wasn't geared towards this industry...
1. It does not allow auto-repeat billing, only memorized transactions. You could do monthly billing with that, but still not automated fully...and you have to manually approve each one.
2. Very importantly, it did not do auto-credit card billing, even if you used their merchant account. You could export billing info to and from a credit card billing program I think..but not as smooth of a procedure...
3. No real online payment method. Usage of paypal may change this now, but I still don't think it auto-imports the payments into your system. You have to maually do it still.
4. No way to email statements to clients...only invoices. Kinda stupid!
...and several other minor annoyances that makes QB not ideal for a hosting operation.
Have any of these things changed for QB2002?
We ourselves have just opted to use <<EDIT>>...rather than use a system like QB...which is not 100% capable of meeting our requirements....but it was pretty darn close as compared to most other similar programs like it on the market.
The ISP/IPP billing programs on the market like Rodophi, look quite good, but the fees they charge are ridiculous....

Saying you are going to just use the script you are developing within your post isn't quite what I'd call acceptable.

That is not correct. We use Quick Books and it does fully intergrate with wells fargo/quickbooks online.

That is news to Intuit and Wells Fargo..
1. You can't select Wells Fargo as an online bank for use with QuickBooks Pro. It just does not appear in the online institutions list.
2. Wells Fargo says:
"You can download account history to your accounting software in Quicken, MS Money, or spreadsheet format. The QuickBooks format will be added in the future." at
http://www.wellsfargo.com/biz/products/gate/faq/faq.jhtml#Question_9
3. I called both Intuit and Wells Fargo and they verified this on the phone.
4. Many banks have features that vary from state to state. (Bank of America being a BIG example). You very well may be in a state that Wells Fargo offers this service and the Quickbooks option is just not available to people that sign up online, or in unsupported states.
