Heya Guys-

Ive been thinking seriously about this Remote Management PCI card for my servers. CrystalPC (http://www.crystalpc.com/products/dsoverview.asp) makes a card that goes inside the computer and monitors it from inisde, and can even reboot it. Its like having a mini-monitoring computer inside the computer, and can even send out notifications. I suppose the only downfall of this card is if the power supply of the host computer fails then it fails.

Any comments about this card? Any suggestions for similiar solutions - pereferably cheaper - for custom built servers?

Thanks.

Hi,

I would use a other solution for this job.

500 USD are heavy ...

Try to use a ROL - F Card

Itīs an Realteck Network card with an special Chip an it for reeboot etc..

Do you have any 1000baseT (gigabit) cards with the reboot ability?

Thanks!

The ROLF card requires that you be on the same ethernet segment, as the remote reboot function cannot be routed (so says the manufactuer), so that is not an option in colocated servers (perhaps I should have said that before).

I like the eRIC card - though it does not provide monitoring services or notification.

Any other suggestions?
