iPowerWeb now giving problem to my site. I'm running board forum and recorded 3 million pageview hits monthly, for 6 months it runs ok now it started to be unstable. Can't connect to MySQL database problem.

I've dispatched the support email, but for 2 days no action have been taken.

Anyone hosting at ipowerweb have the situation like me ?

This may be a little off topic but how long have you been with ipwerweb and also how has your experience been up to this point?

I signed up for them a few weeks ago for a year plan. Were great at first. But when i need my phpmyadmin upgraded to 2.4.0 so i could upload my database, I hit a brick wall. I called to cancel ( 30day money back) and immediately someone got back to me and was great...offered another 3 months free and apologised some more. Thought it was a one time misunderstanding. 2 weeks later and still no update so i called yesterday to once and for all cancel my account. They were very professional and apologized and refunded me without hassle. No hard feelings, I think maybe they are gaining more users then they have support.

I found out that ipowerweb hosting isn't reachable in a large part of europe for some reason. I tested it with some online friends from all over europe (the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Danmark, France, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Spain, Luxembourg, Austria, Italy etc).
I was doubting to go there before i knew webhostingtalk :)

The problem become more serious after they introduce the new plan. My board now will be down form 1-2 hour every day. The main problem is MySQL connection

mySQL error: Can't open file: 'ibf_topics.MYI'. (errno: 145)
mySQL error code: 1016
Date: Wednesday 23rd of April 2003 04:54:17 AM

BTW I hosted at host30.ipowerweb.com

I've used their support help, fetch email, but no go.

Hi,
I'm currently an iPowerweb customer and recently (within the last week or so) I've encountered about 4 to 5 mysql errors. It couldn't connect to the db for some reason. I wrote to them twice about it. The first time they blamed it on some sort of glitch in the system. Okay, fine. The next time it happened (it was the very next day) I emailed them, they said their server admin might have restarted the service or something like that. But after that, I haven't noticed any problems connecting.

Also, when all of the mysql problems started, my sites have been loading awfully slow. It was as if I was on 56K trying to load up a single page and I'm on DSL. Fortunately, June will be my last month at ipowerweb and I've already purchased new hosting from a different company.

Hope things work out for you,
Barbara

I (gulp) have two accounts at iPoweWeb, one of which uses MySQL. We have not officially launched yet, so we aren't even pounding away yet and we have seen connections problems too, although never as long as 1-2 hours in length.

The other problem I have had is with their mail service. SMTP authentication fails every now and then for no good reason. I have called them, been told the mail server can be a bit flaky, and was asked to call again when I had the problem. As if anything would change!

host33 - mail problem
host35 - mysql problem

Down again for more than 10 times for this week. Now decided go for another host.

My problem is with MySQL,heard they're upgrading mysql version , that coused the problems.

IpowerWeb = no go !!

I would suggest with 3 million hits a month, even if you're well within the space and transfer limits, that you'd be better off upgrading to something towards the dedicated end of the spectrum (a small dedicated server, go 50/50 with someone else etc.).
