do you mean datacenters?

it all depends on what you'd classify as a datacenter?

is it any room/building with more than x number of servers?

There are 13 root database servers that serve the internet's dns if that's what you mean?

Aye yes.. that's true.

If however you're refering to datacenters where websites are hosted, then I'd guesstimate at hundreds, if not a thousand or so.

again that all depends on what you define a DC as?

motorala has their own private "server house" would that count?

Akash would you consider a datacenter as a room that someone has in there house with a data transfer pipe running through connected to servers?

Regards,

That's where the borderline is a bit iffy..

I'd probably not - I could have a cable modem and stick my laptop on it and serve pages off of that - hardly a dc.

but then what's the "minimum" requirements for one
