StarGate 04-21-2003, 09:25 PM Yes it rocks. I have it from day 1 and cannot live without it!
WLHosting 04-21-2003, 09:41 PM I currently have Trillian the free version. I like it and am thinking of upgrading to the paid version. Is the paid version much better?

I have the paid version. I don't think that the free version allows for plug-ins?
I have a plug-in on the Pay version of trillian so that it checks various email accounts every minute.. very helpful!
Cirtex 04-21-2003, 10:54 PM i had trillian, it really pissed me off, because my MSN wasnt working properly and my AIM was working fine, ICQ was fine, but it wouldnt connect on MSN
so i eventually gave up
but it could be because i got it in its early stages
volize 04-21-2003, 10:59 PM Do you know how to block contacts on AIM using Trillian?
Neo3Net 04-21-2003, 11:24 PM Right click....Half way down...It Says Block
Trillian Pro is a great thing :)
volize 04-21-2003, 11:51 PM Owh man, last time I tried, it requires a Win32 version or something like that, now it`s possible, maybe because I installed AOL.. well thanks man, and Go Trillian!
trillian pro rules. i've been using it for about 4 months now, and i haven't gone back to AIM or MSN since.
Neo3Net 04-22-2003, 01:06 AM It probally says something like. You need to login via WinAIM or something like that.
What that means is login to your AIM account via a regular Windows AIM client and block someone....then logout and do it via Trillian.
akashik 04-22-2003, 03:09 AM had trillian, but as I pretty much use msn alone it seems worthless to put back in after a OS reinstall.
Maybe if I used more IM's it would be handier.

Mester 04-22-2003, 07:36 PM Trillian Pro is great but not worth the $25 USD over the free version. I'm glad they gave it to those that donated back in the day :D
JSpired 04-22-2003, 07:38 PM I love Trillian Pro. I upgraded about a month back. The plug-in feature is great and now that I have it, I think it would be tough to return to the free version of Trillian.
Cirtex 04-22-2003, 08:15 PM wow, it looks like trillian is finally making a profit now, and i doubt those programs are helping AIM and MSN or yahoo, since AIM does make some money off its ads just like MSN, now that all are free without ads hahaha
Trillian is a great idea though
patord 04-22-2003, 09:44 PM Folks, the BIGGEST thing I like is the "SecureIM" - 128bit encryption over normal AOLIM to other trillian users (in the Pro version). That right there sold it for me and MANY of my friends/coworkers/collegues. If you value some basic privacy, its well worth it.
Cons are you have to use the box(es) your trillian is on and the remote user needs to be using trillian as well to take advantage.
The next thing I like is the consolidate of all the major IM clients. So I dont have to maintain copies of aolim, msn, yahooim, irq. Its well now compared to the early releases.
Acronym BOY 04-23-2003, 12:02 AM I prefer Miranda.
The Dude 04-23-2003, 03:57 PM The 1 thing i dont like about TRILLIAN is the fact that it doesnt have VOICE OPTION!!!!
With my AIM i can go voice w/a microphone and actually TALK to people....
I've email TRILLIAN about this, but no response :(
The Dude :)
Davros 04-24-2003, 10:51 AM I use Trillian all the time.. Although as mentioned for some reason it does have trouble with MSN.. It keeps dropping the connection constantly.. Although I don't doubt that's not intended by unmentioned names.. lol..
I don't use MSN that often so I can't complain too much.. But I do like how you can have serveral consistant connections on each service. I usually have 2 or 3 AIM conects running at once.
Pretty Cool!
Mester 04-24-2003, 07:24 PM Davros - I've never had problems with MSN dropping me.
The only one to do that is Yahoo, on occasion ;)
I never could figure out the difference beyween the paid version or the free one other than the support. But I like to encourage makers of decent software, so I paid the $25 anyway.
I like it because I can be available for my friends to find me, while being "on call" to support our customers at the same time. If we get too busy, I can disconnect the personal ID. - very cool -
I emailed them about the MSN dropping, (with the paid version you get support) and they told me it is a MSN glitch where you probably have a contact's username with a space in it. Delete that contact, and it will work again.
While you are OFFLINE with MSN, go into your buddy list and delete all of your MSN buddies. You can do this easily by holding down the Ctrl button and selecting all of them, then right click one and select "Remove". Once you are sure that they are all gone connect to MSN and the server will upload the buddies from the server.
What you are doing is ensuring that you have a good clean list of
buddies for MSN. If you have added a buddy and left a space in the name (either before or after), Trillian will get to that point in the buddy list and choke. It will then throw up an error.
It's very important that you are NOT connected to MSN when you do this. If you are, you will delete your buddies off of the server and they will be permanently lost.
If you like your messages being read to you so you can leave your desk and hear the actual messages instead of that 'sound', you should also get smart-butler.
