Hi,
I need a SSL. I'm looking into NeoTrust and Thawte?
There are various statements regarding the browser compatibility for those two CAs.
Anyone knows the truth -- which is one has higher browser compatibility? Does Verisign cert have better compatibility compared to the two CAs mentioned above? Or the same?
Thanks in qdvance for your input!

Isn't Thawte owned (at least in part) by verisign?
Both are well known, I'm guessing most browsers should recognize them

From my impression, NeoTrust is les popular than Thawte. However, it seems the other way around from some stats.

Personally (big disclaimer: I am a reseller myself and sell Comodo-issued certificates on the site I run, www.omegasphere.net . As such, I am probably biassed... but they did win the analysis which was objective when I was choosing who to see about reselling for.) I would suggest neither of the above. I think your best bet is Comodo or one of their resellers.
Comodo runs which ssl.com, and there is a pretty decent & mostly objective comparison of the different SSL issuers out there.
I think you'll find Thawte and Comodo to have pretty much the same ubiquity, and GeoTrust a bit lower (equifax root IIRC). Comodo and their resellers will be a bit better of a deal however, and will have the certificate issued in your name rather than 'domain control validated only'.

It depends on what you are looking for. There are three components involved in selecting an SSL provider.
1) Encryption and Data Security during transfer. Both Thawte and Geotrust provides 128bits encryption.
2) Ownership Certification. Thawte requires you to send in Company records and all the documents to identify who you claim you are. Geotrust does not do that, they merely require a phone number and an email address to verify. But there is nothing to prove who you are.
3) Browser Compatibility. Different Certificate Company would work with the available browser developer for compatibility issues. So you would need to check which covers the browser you want to support.
So it depends on what you are looking for. For most common purposes and small dollar value tickets, the Geotrust is more than good enough. But if you are dealing with big ticket items with thousands or millions of dollars per transaction, people may want to know that they are dealing with the correct party and in which case, the Thawte or Verisign certificate may be more desirable.

Sneaky? I think it shows integrity to delineate your potential biases.
