Well.. This has happened to me 5 times. This one being the fastest. I added my nameservers for my new domain, and 3 minutes later it works
My other 4 domains have propagated (sp?)in less then an hour. Is this because of my ISP?...
Thanks

I've used Dotster to register about 40 domains over the years and they've usually got them up and going within 12 hours (without anyone complaining that it can't be reached). I've been pretty impressed with that.
What registrar are you using?

Tosdomains.net
But isn't it your ISP that updates it? 5 minutes it alittle fast i'd think, when 90% of hosts you talk to say 24h+ :\

It might have to do with your ISP. If you asked everyone here to visit your site once you registered it, I'm sure most of them couldn't see it. It takes 12-24 hours for the domain to fully propogate so most places say 24+ hours to be safe (and keep the phone calls away if it doesn't work before then).

It can not be that fast for all - only for some :)
it does not even depend on registrars. Propagaition as a process takes 24 hours at least - but it's 72 hours minimum till everone world wide can "see" you site.
It's the same for new domains or sites that change hosts. The number of internet servers and routers involved is large (13 main ones) and it's a matter of when they refresh their cache.

It's not with the registrar, its with the ISP. My ISP has such **** DNS it takes always 48h to update. It sucks :S

I always get frustrated when people say "my registrar gets it into the DNS faster than yours". No, except in a few strange situations, they don't. It doesn't matter which registrar you register it through, it gets submitted to the same registry, and the registry updates the zone files when it does.
The thing which *does* make a difference is which TLD you register under. Eg: INFO & BIZ do nearly instant updates of their zones files, CNO (er, CN & O now) takes a bit longer.

Thanks for pointing that out ddent.
And yes it is dependent on the particular ISP you are using and their nameservers. The typical propogation for new domain names is about 24 hours, and for transferring/updating domain names, registrars typically shoot for between 24-72 hours. It can vary from network to network. Propogation is just something you have to plan for.

Luck of the draw that your isp propogated so fast. Most people would still have to wait 12-48 hours before seeing your domain resolve.
