Hello all, this is my situation. I've got about 4 domain names registered. They are all for purely egotistical purposes and get basically no activity. But I want a very inexpensive way to host them all.
So, that's why I'm looking for static IP and apache/mod_rewrite. I don't want to pay the monthly fee that most places charge, just to put a couple more names in their DNS. I can use Granite Canyon et al to take care of the DNS info and then I just redirect them myself with .htaccess I know this isn't the best way to do it, but I don't want to pay an extra $10/domain/month just to have them redirected for me(of course if there are any recommendations of places that won't charge me a monthly fee to redirect domain names into different directories for me, I'll take those too)
My only other needs would be unlimited e-mail alias' (which shouldn't be tough to find) and CGI would be nice, but I don't need a bunch of POPs, or SQL or anything like that.
So I'm looking for a recommendation of a decent service, with little/no downtime that will cost me very little money.
I had located below10hosting before I got here, and was happy to find that there are people here who have not only heard of them, but recommend them. I also found cheaperhost, but I'm inherently frightened of anybody who offers Unlimited anything.
So, any suggestions? Can anybody confirm/deny that below10host will allow me to do what I want to with the redirects? Do all accts there get a static IP? And I guess with a $6/month acct I won't be on Alabanza. Should that matter to me? (I had never heard of Alabanza before coming here) Is there some other low priced Alabanza re-seller (I know, they're not resellers :) ) who can give me what I"m looking for? Or is there another host that will put all my names on their DNS and point them for me without charging a monthly fee?
Lots of questions, not bad for a first post, huh? :)
Thanks
