Hello, a question on smpt. I take it that the best solution not to allow clients smpt or put inplace pop before smpt.
Cpanel has a auto config which sets the smpt server as the domains mail server so allowing smpt.
Is there a way to alter this?
What is the best way to enable pop before smpt.

Hello
Cpanel uses authenticated SMTP.
This uses the same password as the POP accountto authorise access to the SMTP server.
You will find that POP authentication is also enabled, so your customers can use either.

I like they way its setup really why would you want to change it.. Why would you think its the best solution not to allow clients smtp.. I am lost. If its there why not let them use it.. I don;t think SMTP will take up that much bandwidth unless some one trys to spam with it..

It's because, if you don't inplace pop before smtp, even outsiders can use your smtp server. And if you are lucky enough to being used for spamming, and black-listed. That's will be very bad.
So, don't allow clients smtp, cut off the risk. Inplace pop before smtp, lower the risk.
That's all I guess. :)
