Hello,
I have been informed that if I get a raq with rackshack the best thing to do is run my own dns. My question is now ... how many extra ips do I need to run dns on my rack?
thanks

I am not 100% sure on this but 1 single IP can run 200+ domains. I am running 55 domains on one single IP and dont have any problems yet. Tera byte offers their own DNS server which is so easy to use I wish other host follow their path and offer it to their users.

Aloha
you will need at least 4 to do it correct
two IP's will be for your
NS1.
ns2.
then you will want to setup at least 1 ip for your admin account and website name if you can do not use this IP with any web pages on it etc...
but if ya do no biggy really
then use the other one for your name based services

whats the point of having two IPs on the same machine? if it goes down the dns goes down .... the secondary accomplishes nothing ... am I missing something?
Aloha
yes true but that is the way ya got to do it unless ya use a secondary dns service such as mydns.com or dotsters or use another computer
or ya can put in one if ya want ;)=
just 2 is a nice balance
hehehheehehe
but better than radcksahck screwing up your dns and if your site is down does it really matter that your dns is down nobody is reaching your site anyway ??
if ya can use another computer then I guess
not the ultimate situation but better than them touching it more than a few people have had em mess up the dns on there raq
