Can anyone explain what I would need to install a shopping cart on a website? Do I need some sort of certificate and what does it cost?
I have a reseller account with Splashhost and they have a couple of pre-installed shopping carts.
Thanks.

Very easy for CPANEL.

Inside teh CPANEL you will have a button called Shopping Carts.

Just click on that.
A confirmation message.
Press submit.

Your shopping cart is installed on your domain.

Bingo... Very easy....

Thanks for the reply. I just clicked on the Interchange shopping cart in my control panel and it automatically installed by itself, I immediately logged in and changed my username & password.
What about credit cards....do I need some sort of certificate or is that just part of the pre-installed shopping cart installed there? It seems too easy.

Also my other question is, the customer will not be using me to host the site right now. Will the cart work with his server?

Interchange is said to be not recommended in shared environment especially if you do not have shell access. Interchage group themselves do not support users using it in Cpanel.

You can also consider Oscommerce which can be installed via Cpanel as well, under 3rd party scripts (if your host installs them)

If you use a third party payment processor like Paysystems or 2checkout, you can accept payments. You cannot accept payments just with a cart. You can also consider Paypal if you are just starting.
