WTF Network Solutions and Interland are pulling a scam! They sent a letter saying my domain was set to expire real soon.... NOT! Its good until October.

They made sure to let me know I could lose it if I didnt pay ASAP for 2 to 10 years....

What happened to one year? They forget about it?

I am tempted to send the letter back saying I am moving to a new registar ASAP since they tried this.

I received an actual telephone call from a telemarketing group for Network solutions!!!! LOL

They wanted to ask me if I wanted to secure the .org and .com version of the domain I have with them for a "one-time-only-deal" of $20 per year as for a minimum of 2 years. LOL

I told them that I never registered this domain with them and that I registered it at Opensrs and that I could go and register the .org and .com with Opensrs for only $15 / year (min of 1 year). The caller said "well, sir we can do that for you as well, but you would have to sign for a minumum of 10 years (ROLMAO HAHA), AND you get the great reputation of NetworkSolutions behind you to help build your business"

OH MY GOD ROLMAO

That call was good enough to keep me laughing for a week :D

I think every host that comes here should all get together and send Interland a letter on the same day asking them to host their site with us!

I get the same types of calls from AT&T for long distance. I pay something like 7.5c per minute, no monthly charge (or less, I can't recall), same for inbound 800. They call up saying they can match that, monthly fee of only $5.95. I tell them that I'd have to be pretty damn stupid to switch to them and get the same rate *plus* a monthly fee, wouldn't I? Errrrr...

Then I ask them about inbound. 15c per minute, plus monthly fee. I let them think about it for a second, until they finally figure out they they are offering me higher than I get now and they have no plan to beat it. I actually enjoy those calls now.

I guess there are stupid people in this world that might actually say, "You can match the $15! -And I only have to sign up for 10 years when I could sign up yearly elsewhere? Sign me up!"

Re. NSI and Interland, I guess I am lucky because on my domain name registrations, I list my voicemail number. Todate, no calls from them.

Like others, I too get calls from telemarketing folks trying to sell me more expensive or inferior products. The sad thing is they will forget and a month later, they will call again. I would certain that I get the same folks calling me each time.

Credit card companies are bad in this. They keep trying to sell me payment insurance in case I can't make a payment, but the insurance does not cover a self-employed person. So each time, I listen to their 15 minute speil... to make the caller feels good and then I try to convince him/her that I don't qualify.

I also like debating with phone companies. In Canada, some companies do not operate in certain areas. When I tell them, I live in the area that they don't cover, they don't believe me. Then, I ask them to look at their fine prints. Oh ya... urh, sorry...

Before I finish, I have to note that I had one call from a lady trying to sell me some expensive products. She was talking fast, and I could not say much. Then after 30 minutes or so, she asked me if I want to buy. I said no. Next thing I heard was a swear word and she hung up. Too bad I didn't take down the name of her company. I am sure her call was monitored.

I suppose I could hang up on these people, but that's not my style. It can also be fun.
