View Full Version : Horrible Service (time for a change?)

I signed up with Duploweb in April because I didn't like Yahoo tagging my email. They seemed fine at first; so I signed another domain and then another.

Then the problems started. First they would be down for a couple hours. Then an occaisonal day.
Now the last time I was able to check anything was June 13 this year.

I have tried to get along with these disrespectful, ungrateful, useless hosts for over three months now. They promise 99% up time; it's more like 99% down time. If you ever do get a reply from "support" they just yell at you for contacting them. Most the time they don't contact you at all. Isn't there a governing body for hosts?? Can't someone help me get my money back for the three sites they are supposed to be hosting??
I'd just like to know if there are more people out there that feel they have been taken advantage of by this "company".

Oh, and if you have any ideas on getting a refund, that would help. Cuz I guess I gotta move.

And....yes....I am an idiot!

Thanks for listening....

(I'm open to suggestions for a new host)

depends on what you are after, if you want a refund (and it's in their policy to give you one) and they refuse, contact a lawyer. If you want to find a new host, don't ask for one in this forum, try the webhost advertisement forum as webhosts are not supposed to post ads here.

Did you pay them by credit card? If you did, there's always the chargeback option for a refund if all else fails.

I think I explained before....

I'm an IDIOT!

Can you tell me how to do the "charge back" thing?

I've written to duploweb several times....

No reply;-(

Thanks for listening!

A chargeback is when you contact your credit card company and dispute the charge on your credit card, presumably in this case for "services not provided" or something like that. I've never done one before, so I'm not sure how to go about getting one... but I'm sure someone around here can help.

Pretty simple, actually ... Call your credit card company (usually, the customer support) and tell them that you want to dispute a transaction ... They will disputed right away, but then they will also send you a paperwork for you to fill, basically explaining why you are disputing the transaction. Wihting 10 days or so after you receive the paperwork, you will have to return it or else you will lose the dispute ... Then they may contact the merchant and/or you or they may not ... but your chance for getting your dispute is actually pretty high, especially if you have a good credit history ... definitely worth to try!

It's good that you are disputing the charges, another benefit is that if a 'company' gets to a certain percentage of transactions that are charged back, they can get fined heavily.
