View Full Version : Completely confused: formmail suddenly not working

Hi,

Sorry extensive post, but like to hear your opinions about this problem:

Have had the present design of my site for 6-8 months. For the formmail, I'm using the excellent and easily configured FormMail script from sourceforge (http://nms-cgi.sourceforge.net/scripts.shtml). AFAIK, it's been OK.

Presently, I'm working on a new design. When testing the new form, using the same script, it doesn't work. I have tried every possible way to change/edit both the .pl and the form itself to no avail. When testing, it sends the output only if I add my own, real e-mail address in the designated field. If I enter e.g. my hotmail address, it appears to be sent, but it's not.

I'm hosted remotely on a Linux/Apache and it's supposed to be as good as it gets, but I'm beginning to suspect that it's something wrong with their sendmail function or perl support.

Have tried to contact the host's support (By mail. I'm in Sweden, they are in Canada) and they're usually very quick (24/7) but this time it's been futile.

After this long rant, I wonder if you could advise on what might be wrong. Any theories are more than welcome.

If you need to see the script, you can either get it from the link above, or tell me and I'll post it (or upload). Same with the form itself.

Thanks in advance for your help. I'm stumped.

<bump>
Sorry for that, but I really need some input...

You should check these items in the script:
@referers
@allow_mail_to
@recipients

Especially the "allow_mail_to" section.

bear,

Thanks for reply.

You bet I've checked, checked, checked and re-checked every piece of code available both in the processor script and in the form itself.

However, the host finally replied half an hour ago (with apologies for delay due the special holiday...) and it turned out that the problem was at their end, not mine. It's now fixed.

Phew....I thought I was about to loose my wits but the confidence is now restored. And sorry, I should have posted that here immediatelly after I got their mail.

Cheers and thanks again

Okay. We close it then. On a side note, it would have got closed earlier had anyone seen the "bump." Which is against forum rules.
