View Full Version : Jasson (pwebtech) saves my ass!!!
freakysid 04-18-2003, 02:40 AM Had a major, major, major problem with my box with dedicatedNow (pegasus web technologies). My excellent and never tiring system administrator and I discover that the box has been compromised. We take action to remove the intruder but it blows up in our face - and we lose access to the box. We conclude we must do a complete restore.
We contact Jason at pwebtech. At 2am he goes to the data center. He reboots using CD, backs up user data (we have nightly backup on the server and a remote weekly backup to), restores the server, and then stays up to oversee the restoration of the accounts, and restoration of mysl data from the backup done just before the restore. We have a problem with the backup. The last daily backup is missing its tarballs and so Jason tarballs them all (takes forever :stickout: ). Jason stays with us until 6:30am. Champion!
There are a few problems with a few accounts we are still trying to work through. The IPs got messed up when we restored the accounts. But it will be all solved very shortly.
This scenario is a web host' worst nightmare. I am just so glad we could get Jason onto it at such crazy hours. Thanks mate!
When you do make it to Sydney - it's my shout!
:)
PS: sorry I spelt your name wrong Jason - too little sleep.

How did you get Jason to fix it? Did you call them or submit a regular ticket?
I always have trouble to reach Jason by ICQ.

I have been a customer of pwebtech/dedicatednow for around 18 months. I would not normally expect a quick reply from Jason if I IM him normally over anything other than an emergency. We have chatted on a couple of occasions. I once wanted to ask him something and he said he didn't have time - which is fair enough. I run a hosting business too and prefer to keep things orderly and have my customers go through the help desk (although getting them to can be a stuggle with some of them - heh).
I IM him. Lucky he was online. The alternative would have been to call NAC and they would have contacted him given it was an emergency.
VeZoZ 04-18-2003, 10:28 PM Jay is great, I sometimes ICQ him about things always responds when he's actually online. Usually it's not about support but rather advise some simple things and questions about if support would help with this and such. He usually directs me to email support after I ask the question but responds non the less :)
NexDog 04-18-2003, 10:32 PM This doesn't suprise me in the least. That guy is a machine and his dedication to his customers is amazing.
What's Jason email and IM/ICQ?
I'll keep it in file in case something emergency happens to my server :)

I was going to say that, but couldn't say it better. The only complaint I have about Jay is he can't clone himself (Lyron would be good to Jay...But if you clone Matt you have to live with it ....LOL)
IceHawk219 04-20-2003, 09:29 PM Mean while I cant even get their systems to accept one of my emails asking them why my servers been down for days now.
NexDog 04-20-2003, 10:16 PM support@dedicatednow.com
unixded@pwebtech.com
unixtech@pwebtech.com
If you are trying support@pwebtech.com, you're out of luck.

Wow aint that the truth ;)
Matt's great and all, but uhh, two would be two (no pun intended) much ;).
Rochen 04-21-2003, 12:13 AM Can't say I have had many dealings with Jay. However, what I can say is, I have dealt with Matt on many occasions and he is always prompt and very friendly :)
Very nice. I planned on colocating a server with DedicatedNOW. Nice job Jason.
XN CEO 04-21-2003, 09:17 AM Matt's a great guy, i've been getting to know him on many different levels, and he's a great guy. Just no clones ;)
