brockf 04-17-2003, 07:11 PM Can we have network information?
SSSTrunks 04-17-2003, 07:16 PM what kind
brockf 04-17-2003, 07:26 PM I dunno, say, the bandwidth providers, lol? Connection speeds, test address, etc.
ruler 04-17-2003, 07:27 PM I emailed him and he said 'who r u'. I asked network info.
hm?
I'm currently talking to the guy's boss right now, so far he's said that the bandwith providers are AT&T, Cogent, NTT&Verio and the servers are located in Pennsylvania. And he's a reseller. Just right now he "had to go" and the guy who's posting doesn't know much about servers.
futile 04-17-2003, 07:44 PM Notice where it says all you get is a reseller control panel? I'd be willing to bet that is either a reseller hosting package or a so-called 'semi-dedicated server' package. If it IS dedicated, which I doubt, then I'd consider only getting a reseller control panel quite a disadvantage.

I talked to him on AIM, and asked if you get root access. He said "I'm not in a position to give you root access".
jarekb 04-17-2003, 07:55 PM :-) joke ?
It maybe..Well the guy who posted doesn't know anything, so I talked to his "boss". He actually gave me reasonable answers, and then went offline. Very unusual.

No.
Revnet 04-17-2003, 08:10 PM 60GB / 80GB 7200rpm SCSI Drives?!?!?!
Since when did they make those?
If you are going to sell something, at least know what you are selling :D
(Not trying to offend, but that's common sense)
supermash 04-17-2003, 08:16 PM It seems pretty clear to me that this is NOT what we would call a dedicted server. You are NOT given root access and are only given a CPanel reseller control panel. Therefore you are sharing the resources with whoever else is on that server. There are a couple of minor issues that also mark this post that should have attention drawn to them. They clearly can't differentiate between IDE and SCSI because anyone who knows there dedicated servers knows that "60 GB SCSI HDD / 7200 RPM " does not exist. We also know that CPanel alone is worth nearly $45-50/month and for the total to be $90/month for a "DEDICATED SERVER", i don't think so.
Also please take a look at the second offer for the Dual Xeon system: "Unmeterd 50 Mbps Data Transfer Port " for only $260/month !!!!!!! . Somehow I doubt even RS could afford that. This is why it is probably best to conclude that this offer belongs in the shared hosting section. If SSSTrunks could confirm this that would help all of us I'm sure.
Plus... would you be happy dealing with someone who "doesn't know anything" (quote from acegamer)?
Don't get me wrong, i'm not trying to flame this offer, it is good but I believe it belong in a different area of this forum.
James
NavySeals 04-17-2003, 08:25 PM If i get for 160/m i will but it for the year... If u can i will buy it in a heart beat!

HyperGuy 04-17-2003, 08:33 PM No offence, but the you read the past replies about this offer being a scam? Not trying to flame ya or anything.
I usually don't jump to conclusions, but judging by SSSTrunk's responses, and his nickname itself (the nickname refers to a kids-targeted cartoon), it makes you wonder.
HyperGuy 04-17-2003, 08:37 PM That's true, but I think this is awfully suspicous...
NavySeals 04-17-2003, 08:53 PM Me too stripey!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BiGWill 04-17-2003, 09:40 PM hahahah. what a scam.
sorry, but that's really to good to be true.
HyperGuy 04-17-2003, 09:42 PM yeah, i have to aggree. There's no way he could offer that...
mainarea 04-17-2003, 09:44 PM This goes against all warning signs that Chicken posted.... SCAM
Edit: Is your name...... TIMMAH!!!
Looks like he's also found that unlimited hardware supplier - http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=133597

brockf 04-17-2003, 09:56 PM Wow, that's a *cough* nice *cough* site.
tandem 04-18-2003, 10:29 AM It looks like this guy has been allowed to post in WHT under multiple identities and for some strange reason he hasn't been kicked out of WHT by the mods yet.
Anyone knows the reason?
It's two days later and he (or she) hasn't responded to any of the messages on this thread, which goes to show that he can't really be too serious about this. I would have thought that he would have defended himself.
