View Full Version : Need server admin for a dedicated server

I'm thinking of moving to an unamanged dedicated server, only I don't know how to run one. I was thinking maybe I could find someone to run the server for me on a freelance basis. Will be a longterm relationship.... Anyone interested? If so, what's the monthly fee?

Will be a simple dedicated server at rackspace that host 3 sites with 3 different domains. Two sites are very small, the other is medium sized with a very busy UBB.threads message board.

Thanks,

Ryan C.

The rules Nick... the rules are your friend.

Ryan, aren't all rackspace servers managed already?

We can help you on with issues that they don't cover on a per hour basis (35 USD). Minimum 15 minute charge.

Thanks and good luck with your new server! :)

Do you mean Rackshack? Rackspace only offers managed dedicated servers. In any event I can recommend an extremely experienced Linux/BSD system administrator. Please either email me at jon@citadelhost.com or simply PM me.

What are the fees that sys admins usually charge for such remote admining?

Asking that is rather vague. Depending upon the system administrator you will get various answers. Cheaper work is not always the better work, nor is the most expensive, as with anything in life.

My personal charges are $100/month for 1 server, $85/month if mult. servers, but I know there's others out there, again, that are cheaper, and more expensive. It's not $$$ you should be too concerned about but what the reputation of the administrator is, whether they're knowledgable of what they do or not.
