I got spam about switching to a "cheap webhost." For some reason I actually opened
it before deleting. It included references to signet. So I went to their homepage.
There is a large notice "Have you been spammed" that linked to an apology:
Dear Customers, and all those who have been recently spammed,
We found out this morning, (June 18, 2001). We had signed up a new affiliate that had thought that spam was an acceptable form of advertising. His account was immediately revoked once we had found out about it. We are very sorry for the inconvenience. We are working around the clock to put an end to this problem. We are just as tired of getting spammed as you are. Once again, We are truly sorry for the inconvenience as we are taking steps to make sure that no other affiliates operate in this unacceptable
manner.
That's a first. But then most who spam don't care
if everyone hates them.
