What are some of the limitations of cobalt? (specifically cobalt 3, comments on later version welcomed too)

Can I just install any Linux program on it? What am I not able to do? What doesn't it come with? (cobalt 3)

Thanks,

Peter

The main limitation is that if you attempt in any way to bypass the Web Admin Interface you invalidate ANY waranties on the box and they are fairly expensive to rebuild if you wreck them!

also, alot of the OS is bound into the interface and any changes can cause unexpected results on the box.

Hey, i have installed lots of things onto my RAQ3 and its working fine, i have even started to change the GUI and its still working.
The things you need to look out for is editing things by hand, if you change the wrong things the GUI can get screwed, i have only screwed it once and it was hard to fix (after installing MySQL 3 times)
I had to copy my group files, copy the passwords and crap like that, fix it and put em all back, i got about 4 core dumps, that are NOT good, thats where the server emptys its memmory into the hard drive (big wopping files)

So if your good a linux you can use it normaly and not bother if the GUI screwes up, but if your new, you have to look out.
The only other main limtation is it dont perform as a good as a normal linux box and you can not upgrade mich eather.

If your starting out i would say its grate (like me)

Hope i did not yack on too long.

I have been using a raq and I find them very good as long as you are not running CGI intensive site.
My banner script is serving over 100K banners using txt database and still going strong, but I can not use any other CGI or the server will get over loaded. Other than that they are great for the money. If you can pay the extra $275 set up fee go get a raq 4 from Raqshack with 256 ram. Makes a big difference.
