I have posted my thoughts before on the fact that I think as web hosts we are pricing ourselves too low and thinning margins where it's impossible to provide good support.
However.... I'm considering adding a low featured plan (no mysql, no subdomains, low bandwidth) at the 20Meg level for yearly rate only of around $50. My question is for those who have done this - is it more trouble than it's worth?
My current lowest plan is 11/month and I find about half the customers who take this are brand new to hosting, buy a quarterly plan, have LOTS of support questions, then decide at the end of the quarter that web sites are not worth the hassle, discontinue, and let the domain go. In other words, just when I get them trained, they quit :)
Any thoughts?
