View Full Version : $6/domain/year
acphosting 04-16-2003, 08:28 AM I tried, their service is good.
the price is only $6/domain/year
typing key words"enom reseller", you can find them easily! are they losing money? Can they spend a lot of monty to be a Sponsored Links at yahoo or google and try to lose money with the hosting trick? I do not think so. It is too dangerous and they do not have to set their price so low at least.
So, There must be some reseller's plans with that so low prices.
firstly I want to buy an Enom reseller account but now I donot know how can I or your guys compete with them in the future?
Regards,
John
slade 04-16-2003, 08:41 AM I would guess they hope to make it back on the bundling, and other services. They offer hosting and other items besides the registrations.
It does appear their domains run through enom, as that's where their own domain is registered.
You can transfer any domain to/from anywhere as long as it's not locked(excluding the 60-day rules.) Hmm... Now that I've written that, I'm not sure it answered your question, but I'll leave it.
We compete with our own bundling of services or just good customer service. That's just basic business. Bottom feeding makes for immediate cash, but generally leads to problems later.
Alstjd 04-16-2003, 09:24 AM What's an enom reseller?
Toeki 04-16-2003, 12:10 PM Can you PM me their url?
acphosting 04-16-2003, 04:32 PM Toeki, how do you think about that?

I might be wrong, but Ithought the lowest you could go was 6.95....
unless they're name-only accounts....
Tropical Tundra 04-16-2003, 06:39 PM iregistrations was selling domains for $5.99 same co? Might not be because I believe you had to get web hosting from them. 30-days were free then if you didn't cancel they would start to charge your credit card. At that price they would be selling the domain at a loss so they plan is to make money on the $30/month on webhositng. Therefore, the domain ends up costing you a lot more! Lowest that I've seen without any strings attached (signing up for hosting or whatever) is Stargate at $7.95. I'll stick with GoDaddy myself.
tassilo 04-16-2003, 06:53 PM Hi...
could u post me their url as pm ?

Toeki 04-17-2003, 02:18 AM check their Terms and Conditions
http://www.iregistrations.com/terms.shtml
hostjet 04-17-2003, 02:39 AM 2.6.6 Non-cancellation within this allocated period constitutes acceptance by the registrant for the continuation of and subsequent billing at the standard rate for these services.
2.6.7 Billing after the initial 30 day period is by direct debit from the registrants nominated credit card at the rate of $39.98 per month and is payable monthly in advance.
how sneaky!
thats how they make the money...
Nobody can make money by selling domains at $5.95

You better comb through their TOS more carefully. With the registrars paying $6 for each .com and .net they register with no volume discount, nobody is going to sell a name for less than that in the longer run. There might be some promotions, but they must have other services or products to sell on the side. Who would run a losing business even from their garage with the door open during the day to save on the electricity bill?

nameslave - well worded, I agree
acphosting 04-17-2003, 08:50 AM Try them with $6 domain name registration and cancel the web hosting service in 30 days.
You would lose nothing!
I have already registered a lot..
Tropical Tundra 04-17-2003, 09:13 AM I'm glad it's working for you just seems more work to make sure and remember to go and cancel the web hosting what if they screw up and start charging you the 40 bucks per month? Then you have to deal with refunds, charge backs, etc. I wouldn't trust my cc to a company with a sneaky TOS. The hassle factor seems to high for me to try and save $1-2 per domain.

Agree. Not worth the hassle, unless you have at least couples of thousands of domain names; but then the chances of messing things up are accordingly higher ... still not worth it.

:D
Just wait until it comes to renewal time. That's when the fun begins :stickout:
Bashar 04-17-2003, 07:32 PM $0.95/name extra to ETP account would really worth the trust :)
hostjet 04-17-2003, 08:36 PM well those terms of service, appear to be deceptive, if they find themselves making a loss, they may turn around and say you didnt notify them to cancel the hosting option, what then?
not worth the hassle for the sake of a couple of dollars.
acphosting 04-17-2003, 09:14 PM Email confirmation is OK.
