What is the best co-location place out there? I want to consider price, quality, tech support, etc. I already read a lot about Burst.net and Vdi.net, but what else? Also, what are the best CPanels out there? Cpanel was coded poorly. Thanks,

Ahem...

What exactly leads you to believe this? Have you seen the code? If so, that would be a neat trick, as all of the core Cpanel functions are compiled before they are sent out.

Granted, Cpanel has had it's share of bugs and inefficiencies, but then again most programs do. To flat out say that it was coded poorly without having at least some experience with it from an administrative standpoint is a little premature.

I would love to hear your reasoning for stating that Cpanel was coded poorly, so that we can perhaps address some of your concerns. If you're simply not interested at all, you may want to try Plesk, Ensim, or Sphera....

I do like Sphera, as the Flash demo is pretty cool, and it looks great overall. First, where can I see the other control panels that you listed. Please give me the website addresses.

It has a lot of errors. A lot of the things don't work right, about 90% of errors from a lot of hosts the use CPanel 3x are from it. You usually have to fix the bugs yourself. Its ok, but overall its not to good. It has a lot of bugs in it, and most of them aren't fixed by the vdi staff. You have to do it yourself. Anyways, I just don't like it too much. :cartman:

how can you fix these "bugs" if the code is already compiled? maybe people are fiddling with the configuration of the server which affects the control panel? I could be wrong but if these bugs can be fixed without editing the cpanel/whm code then there was nothing wrong with cpanel in the first place.

Wait a minute here... you just said you didn't like Cpanel and that it was poorly coded.

BurstNET sells Cpanel. How can you hate Cpanel but like BurstNET's control panel? I don't get it!

I dont like the control panel. I know burstnet has that control panel. By saying I liked BurstNet, I do. I like the quality and the services overall. Notice on the quote section of co-location, you do NOT need to purchase the cp lincense? I wouldn't purchase it, I would use my own Control Panel from the internet. Did you understnad that, becausse sometimes I confuse people. Anywayz, I like BurstNet Quality and speed, but not the CP. I would use another one. That's why I need websties for good Control Panels.

Interesting... I guess I just didn't follow when you switched gears from control panel providers to service providers. I'm glad you like BurstNET though; they seem to be a reputable company around here.........

Their original (and what seened to be their main) question, was asking about Collocation providers, and they asked about and mentioned control panel's after. I'm glad to hear you're involved in developing the new Cpanel, if I'm correct in that statement... Would you be so kind as to fill me (or some of us) in on what to expect as far as any improvements go, any feature differences, etc.? I'd just like to know what to expect. You can email or ICQ me, if you wish. Cheers.

Even though Cpanel might be buggy and all, you will not find any other control panel in the market that will do what cpanel does. If you hate it so much, why don't you just write your own? ;)

I use Sphera Hosting Director the cost is a little more but so far it is well worth it.

Another control panel I have heard of is Plesk but I don't have any first hand experience with it. You can find out more about it at http://www.plesk.com
