Is there any way to be totally branded as a reseller. Control panel, DNS names, emails, registrar source etc. When someone does a whois search I would like for them to only see my info not a third party. (ie godaddy)

Yes. You would need a dedicated ip for it. It's not a big issue. For the control panel, it depends on which you are using. Cpanel does have the ability to switch the logo on the top for resellers. With a dedicated ip, you can then register your own nameservers.

sprintserve is correct.

I'm not so sure about domain registration though. This depends on the domain reseller package you have. I'm not really aware of any that will place your name in whois searches, as the registrar. This is called "co" branding.

Does anyone know if I signed up as a domain registrar reseller would a search on domains I registar show my name?

No it wouldn't. It would show your nameservers once those are setup, on the domains you're hosting though.

Like I said, this depends on the domain reseller you choose, but I doubt there are any that would do this.

With enom mine nor my resellers have this issue.
When a domain is purchased thru them, the purchasers info gets put into the whois info ;)

Registration Service Provided By: TekAdvantage.com

This is the kind of output I'm looking for Esr Tek but with my own name of course. If I were to register my name with GoDaddy for instance it would show their name there. Do I need to become a reseller for them or for Enom for instance to have my company name show there?

Thats the Info I want to show, as far as godaddy no I don't think it will show "purchased thru godaddy" or anything to that effect.

It may show something like enom or openSRS but I am not sure if you could remove this.

couldn't you register with someone like TUCOWS as a partner, im not sure but i think ive seen somewhere where you pay the something like $80 to become a partner and you then gain access to the tucows domain database giving you the ability to register domains without having to be a reseller.

or is this more or less the same thing??

I think if you are a Tucows partner you still have to have a domain registrar business. Anyway, when you do a whois search on a domain registered by a Tucows affiliate, Tucows always shows up in the search.

I am not aware of any registrars that will remove all traces of their name from the whois record. In my understanding, the accredited registrar involved must somehow be noted in the whois record - so that ICANN, or whomever may need to - can contact the ultimate resource if necessary. Of course, there could be exceptions which I am not familiar with.

Usually, with wholesalers such as OpenSRS/Tucows, the whois record will note "Tucows" plus the reselling registrar's name below. However, you can customize the nameserver information in the whois record, which is usually the real concern for web hosting resellers - so that you look like the host and not a reseller of another host's servers.

This does depend on the web host usually - some offer virtual DNS services (offering your own nameservers with their own IP addresses), some don't. I am uncertain if some of the registrars offer virtual nameserver services.
