How do some hosts offer instant sign up. Is this an addon to control panel? Do they write the scripts themselves? Are there disadvantages to using it?

There have been a few threads debating instant sign up and activation. Have you done a search?

Hosts can buy scripts that will integrate with their setup process, or they will write one themselves. Some of these scripts may come bundled with other software that the host uses, like billing software.

Just a little lazy. A search for instant sign up gives me 225 threads to sift through.

Try looking for:

"instant sign up" AND advantage
or
"instant sign up" AND problem

That should narrow things a bit.

phpmanager will intergrate with your WHM and give you instant sign up.

The only down site of it is people WILL abuse it. They use stolen credit card and get an account. 5 mins later, you have 500,000 spam mail sent out from your server.

Could use http://www.nixt.org/ this guy invented the basis of the code in PHPmanager's WHM Module is (thats what he claims). Its free, thought I would throw it in.
