View Full Version : hostit365.com
avara 06-16-2001, 02:15 PM I used to design web sites as a part-time activity (I was a student, recently graduated). Anyway, now that I graduated, I got my own company incorporated, and am doing web design and other internet services (including hosting, domain registration and consulting) on a full-time basis.
Reading these forums has made me interested in creating a subsidiary selling mostly to American customers. For this purpose, I now registered the domain name hostit365.com.
I'm thinking about charging $99 per year for fully-featured, quality (this is very important to me) hosting. This price would include a domain name, so there would not be any extra costs.
Basically, I'd just like your input on the name hostit365.com, and anything else you would like to say...
Thanks. :)

I couldn't connect to your website.

The reason you could not connect to hostit365.com is because no site is up yet -- I only just registered the domain name a few hours ago. Anyway, I am just pondering the possibility of developing this into a web hosting brand thus far.
avara 06-16-2001, 05:53 PM Back to the original question: What's your opinion on the name hostit365.com? :D
Ericd 06-16-2001, 06:01 PM I think it's a good name.
HostIt365
We host your web site 365 days per year!
Hosting you everydays!
Hosting and supporting you everydays!
Ok, i am not pretty good finding slogans, but i see the potential in your name :)
Cheers!

Dogma 06-16-2001, 06:44 PM There are 3 problems with the name from what kumaran showed us that their is a host365.com
You will lose customers who forget the "it" in hostIT365.com
You will get too many customers which would attract host365.com's attention and they might sue your @$$
So I lied, 2 problems......
avara 06-16-2001, 08:16 PM "You will get too many customers..."
I like the first part of the second problem you mentioned. ;)
Fremont Servers 06-16-2001, 09:16 PM Dogma,
How do you know they will get many customers? :D
MCHost-Marc 06-16-2001, 09:25 PM I see the confusion between host365 and host(it)365 as a possible problem :cartman: make sure, before starting anything, to do an extensive trademark search. also, if you DO start a hosting company with that name, create a logo that expresses clearly the "365", make sure people remember the number (i know, this sounds stupid but some people look at it as a number, not as "365 days"; and might forget it). :)
kumaran 06-16-2001, 10:07 PM Well to be honest, I did look up the idea of registering host365.com, but we all know is taken!
Now back to what I wanted to say: There might be a copyright problem with the "365"??
Quote from "music365.com”:
The name and overall content are © 365 Corp. plc 1998 - 2001, and all rights are reserved. Please see the terms page for conditions of use
Quote from Terms page:
Music365 is owned and operated by 365 plc ("365"), a subsidiary of 365 Corporation plc. 365's principal place of business is:
52 Gloucester Place
London W1H 3HJ
---
But do they also own "live365.com"??

Dogma 06-17-2001, 01:18 AM Sorry, there should be an "IF" infront of problem #2

Something like "Keeping your web site online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year" might do the trick. Notice the pattern? :)
avara 06-17-2001, 05:30 AM I created a logo and some plan information, and saved it all into a GIF file. Don't be afraid to steal a quick look:

Comments?
Walter 06-17-2001, 06:31 AM Not bad (you even did "it" bold).
Hi
I have spent $15000 protecting domain names recently with trademarks.
I do not think you will have a problem with using hostit365.com. Though it might be worth you spending money on trademark and possible blocking host365.com from obtaining name in United States.
Might be a good idea to file logo design and words and make sure you file in Class 09.
Hope this help!

I can't really say for the UK, but in the US I wouldn't think there'd be a problem (by the way, the potential would be a trademark conflict, not copyright) with someone having named their corporation "365" precluding you from using that number. It's just too generic to be trademarked. That's probably not the case, though, with the more specific "host365" and if they do have a registered trademark in the UK you'd probably be unable to trademark "hostit365."
So you (avara) might want to check and see if they do have it protected.
P.S. I'm not a lawyer, but I played one in the school play.
avara 06-17-2001, 07:54 PM I'm based in the Republic of Ireland, and last time I checked, there was no trademark for 365 filed.
Walter 06-18-2001, 08:04 AM BTW, Avara, didn't you ask some time ago how the name "avara" would fit for a host? Or am I confused?
I find Avara much more appealing than hostit365...
avara 06-18-2001, 08:22 AM Thanks for the kudos on the name "Avara". I have already registered it in Ireland, and am using it to operate my web design and hosting firm in Ireland.
Dogma 06-18-2001, 10:43 AM Avara Host sounds very nice!! or Avera Hosting 365...
MCHost-Marc 06-18-2001, 12:13 PM I agree. Avara would be a much better name for a hosting company than HostIt365 :)
Hi
You would not be able to obtain Hostit365 in the UK for a trademark, but you would have a good chance with EC and US application.
I have filed a 365 name myself, though remember, if you file for a name that sounds the same as some elses and its granted another company will not be able to obtain trademark in same class.
