I just tested out to use thier special promotion for free domain name registeration and see how thier system works and so far pretty good...

You register a domain and 90 days for free, after that you pay $30 for other 9 months ... However, I will might discontiune it because $30 is too much!

ALSO: Did I metion they will give you free domain name if you pay $30, is this a joke?

Yet, I am playing around with NSI and see how they go. If you want to try the promotion, the URL is:
http://www.networksolutions.com/promotions/offers/freedomain/

Good luck guys and let me know how yours goes too!

Cheers,
Joseph

That's not really free, it's just a deferred payment. The word free has been much abused. It means no cost and no obligation. Thus, a lot of "free" services on the Web, including hosting, aren't free, they are just no cost, since there is usually an ad banner or similar condition. The ad free version usually has a financial cost attached to it.

This is another corruption of the word free. Who is really going to get a domain name for only 90 days for serious purposes?

Olympic Page for the September Olympics. Dedication site for some upcoming concert.

Hey there is always some remote possibility. :))))

Duster does have a great point though. :)

But who is going to be foolish enough to wait until 90 days or less to promote such an event on the Web?

No matter how you figure it, it just makes more sense to spend $12-$15 at any of the better registrars and get a domain name for a year and have plenty of time to promote even a one time short lived event. Else, there is little sense in going to the expense of building a web site.

There could be someone who would benefit from NSIs offer, but by and large, it is a gimmick with questionable, probably negligible, value.
