We use Imail on WIN2K and NT with no problems as well. Maybe your installation was messed up. Have you tried re-installing Imail?

No i've reinstalled several times, i've got 255 domains on each imail server, ipswitch has been most unhelpful, the only thing they say is "reinstall" i'ved done that and then it works for a couple days and then pop and smtp claim to be working but they just stop sending and recieving mail, same thing on all my servers, it's not set in stone any times its all random

I am so happy to be using my Merak mail server,

Its also cheaper than Imal ,
I dont have that many domains though , Just around 75-80 , low mail traffic sites,

Merak website is www.icewarp.com and we found it to be sturdy.
I have also used imail before and that was alwo working fine,

but merak is a bang for the buck , costs 240$ with multi domain on same Ip support

Have you looked at the Imail system logs? Sometimes when a user or users send mass email it clogs up the queue and basically locks up the SMTP and POP until the queue is clear. Which makes it appear the SMTP and POP are not working. Try viewing the queue when it happens and see if there is a large amount of mail in the queue. Also check running processes for multiple instances of SMTP32.exe
