What does one need to offer streaming media on a Raq3? Is there anything special needed?

Real - Quicktime - MS? Each will require their own server software, and a hell of a lot of system. I dont recomend streaming of a RaQ. To do it properly you need a serious box - dual scsi - dual PIII etc. Depending on how serios you are about offering streaming as a service you may need to put each flavor of steaming software on its own box. Then there is bandwidth to worry about - 10 streams of a 10mb file every day is going to hit the wallet hard. The main question is - is running a streming server on my Raq3 going to be detrimental to the clean running of the server - or is it going to hog so much sys resources that no-one can view any pages (as I have seen recently with a shoutcast install)???? |
