Yahoo uses Network Solutions to register domains. Changing nameserver info can be done the same way using Network Solutions forms as if it was a Network Solutions registration. Unless Yahoo is no longer using Network Solutions.

I registered through yahoo for one of my geocities sites. It is still done through
network solutions. I'm down as the administrative contact, yahoo is the
technical & billing contact.

Verio uses them too. Big nightmare. This is part of an e-mail we send our users who bought from Yahoo!

------------------
In order to complete the transfer of your site to our services you will need to log into your Yahoo! Domains account at http://domains.yahoo.com. Once you are logged in, please click on the "Close Account" link. Once you are on the next page you will check the first radio button which says "Close my account and keep my domain name." Follow the rest of the instructions to complete the transfer. In the "Additional Comments" field please cut and paste the following:

This is where we put our name server info.
_____________

Yahoo will use this to change the name servers and point them to your DNS. Be warned - don't expect a 24 - 48 hour turnaround.

If someone has a better way of transfering Yahoo! doamins, hook us up.

If you registered domains any time up to about 6-12 months ago the domains registered through Yahoo! were through NetSol. They're now generally registered through Melbourne IT (of which I have had many dealings with, and let me say they are at the very least somewhat better than NetSol.......).

Maybe it depends on what type of domain you are registering or from
where. I just now (5 minutes ago) registered another .com domain name
through Yahoo. According to the TOS they still use Network Solutions.

For Domain Registrants, the following terms apply in addition to those set forth in the TOS:

Your agreement with Network Solutions.Yahoo! uses Network Solutions to provide domain name registration services for .com, .net and .org domain names. You hereby authorize Yahoo! to acquire your selected domain name from Network Solutions, and to enter, on your behalf, Networks Solutions's terms and conditions at http://www.networksolutions.com/legal/service-agreement.html as may be amended. You understand that you are authorizing Yahoo! to create a separate contractual relationship between you and Network Solutions and that you, and not Yahoo!, are responsible for all fees, liability, and obligations in connection with that relationship.

I forgot Yahoo's registrar for Yahoo!Domains but it's definitely not Network Solutions.

I've had a potential client who was blaming me for his domain not being able to point to our servers. He said he didn't want to contact Yahoo because Yahoo isn't exactly helpful.

I tried to help by going to the registrar directly and used the forgotten password tool to send him info regarding his domain (since in the whois, his email addy is the one on the admin contact, thank gawd).

It's annoying how Yahoo does this. Now it brings a lot of hosts into bad light.

Well if it is Melbourne IT, I give them the thumbs up. That's who we use, and while we haven't had a lot of dealings with them, they have certainly been a nice relief from Network Solutions!

Melbourne IT won something along the lines of "best registrar" one or two years back. BC might know more. It may have been for their handling of .au domains rather than international domains, however.
